i have gone through a lot of previous posts but i am still confused. how to define whether the purpose is too vague and how to know it is specific.

i have read the Photoreading whole mind system, the purpose listed in the book seems general and doesn't seem specific if according to the previous posts opinions.

the question is, how to state good purposes?

"I am going to read this chapter of history so that i can understand how the leaders co-operate to prevent the attack of outsiders" it seems more like a mindprobe question , right?
or
"I am going to read this chapter of history so that i can understand more on history which will be invaluable experience in my daily life" a better purpose?

Can anyone give examples on purposes statements? Please..

i dun think reading history serves me well because my future career has no relation with this subject. but i haveno choice but to socre good marks in this subject to get my straight A's in my year end exam (history is compulsory to all students in my school).

in this case, wat purpose should i state?

"i am going to study history so that i can get an A for my history?"
but previous posts claimed that this purpose is not good enough.

It is very important. I would not recommend wasting too much time on this, however. One must get in the zone, but not wasting time is also important.

How do you know that History won't serve you in the future. It seems to me that to continue on your chosen career path you need to know enough history to get a passing grade.

So it would seem a possible purpose is to have the knowledge needed to pass the grade so that you can get entry to the university of your choice. So in activation you would look to know what it is you need to know to pass the test.

The question is how does it make you feel? Does it give you the focus. Does it motivate you to concentrate on the text. If yes it's a good purpose if no then you're probably not as interested in getting into a good college as you say you are
