I have a problem in 2 areas of my life and i beleive changing neuro associations of theses 2 experiences would help me.

1. I need to study for my upcoming exams, a lot is at stake and i know i have to study (conscously), I think there is nothing wrong with hat, i even thing studying is interesting cause i learn new things, however somehow i must have assosciated study with something that is hard to do, cause i cannot do it seriously. i find it hard to sit down and start studying....

the same situation is for training and exercise. I used to be much more active until a couple of months ago but again i am stuck in the same situation and no matter how much i want to do the training i cannot.

funnily enough these are the areas of my life which i consider to be very important and sometimes i feel like i am a failure when i realize i not applying myself for these causes.

Can anyone give me some input and tips pls....

Chunk it, use the technique of doing it for 20 to 30 minutes and when the time is up stop. Use a timer and stick to it. When you say to yourself you're going to work on it for only 20 to 30 minutes you must stop. At the very least take a break and set the timer again.

The Paraliminal Get Around To It is also useful.

I think you have a gift! To many people study seriously. Seeing as you don't study seriously, you can study in a different way, such as curiously, ferociously, effectively, or any other way that feels right to you.

I was able to get "Where there's a Will, there's an A" from my library. My first semester was 3.8, and my second sememster was 4.0 for the semester with 3.95 for my cumulative GPA. And this was before I found out about PhotoReading.

well thanks kaiden for the compliment......

but my gift is not goint to take me anywhere if i don't get around and study. What do you suggest? Also I tried photoreading but I am not seeing "Extraordinary" results or at least very noticable results. Probably because the subjects i am studying are very technical and require a lot of detail. I am reading a book about Computer algorithms that is filled up with such details.

i sometimes have to read a chapter 4 times to understand it fully. and then I do not know if i can remember it for the exam.

Also I've been off from studying for about 8 years now, and getting to a new pattern is somewhat difficult. I never recollect being a studyholic if you know what i mean.

To get into a study habit you need to devote a time and place daily for it. If you've blocked of time in your calender for studying and are avoiding it. Then your problem is prcastionation. And the Get Around To It paraliminal may be your fastest track to getting started.

Look at your ultimate goal. Why have you taken up studying again, What was your purpose?. Write it down and put it somewhere you are reminded of it daily.

Every time you sit down to study have a plan what you want to know when you have finished. Give yourself reasonable time to study what you have to and if you finish early... finish early. Even one 30 minute study session a day is better than none.

Make your target the minimum passing grade and anything better than that is a bonus. If you find the upcoming exams daunting you might want to see if you can get copies of the previous years exams. They will give you some insight into what is required of you for the exam and a realistic idea of what is expected of you.

Good luck

Usually listening to it once with the idea in mind that you will be comfortable studying will bring results. You might wind up using it daily for a while or just once and the ball starts rolling. Best bet use it once and see.

Mind map the book so that you have an understanding of the subject. The mind maps become useful tools for revision.

Normally you do a quick review of your study notes after you study session, this helps to put it into your memory. Then before you commence your next study period you review them again. The first review would take about 10 minutes and later reviews about 3 minutes each. review your notes daily for a week and then once weekly to keep them fresh in your mind. The week prior to the actual exam you will preview all your notes and brush up on anything that you feel you've forgotten. As well as doing that in the week prior to the exam you will PR the relevant text books daily for good measure.

Do this with the notes from your classes and your notes from your text. If you really need an idea of what is going to be in the exam... ask the lecturer what your main focus should be. If you can corner them and ask them questions they will often give you clues as to what they consider important or not. Most lecturers want you to succeed it doesn't really look good if their class as a whole fails. So Get whatever information about the exam early they are probably less inclined to inform you the week prior to the exam.
