Firstly Happy Holidays and Merry Xmas to all.

I have some exams in a few weeks for a financial course I am doing. I am about 1/2 way through the home study course and am planning to complete the course in the next couple days.
My company has purchased a set of couse videos for me and I was wondering if I photoread lots of books on the subject and then go through the course and do questions from different sources, would this be sufficient for the purposes of activation? These videos have an instructor going through various topics relevant to the course.

I suggest you do a mind-map for each different source. For example; a mind-map for your course textbook, a mind-map for the videos, a mind-map for the notes you took in class.

Imran if the course videos is the actual instructional information then yep you don't need to do much activation on the background books. Use the Direct Learning approach. Just PhotoRead them. Watch the videos and let the books activate that way.

If one or two of the books jump out as needing a closer look activate them some. It might be they give you more information than the videos to help you understand that part. So activation can be done after viewing the videos.

What I have is as follows:

1) Course manuals written by the financial organisation which does the course. These manuals are very detailed and follow the exact course syllabus.
2) Course videos and slides. These detailed videos and slides have been compiled by a third party external company. The videos contain the lectures for the course in which the lecturer presents slides and discusses these in great depth. Printed and bound course manuals that are essentially the slides in the videos.
3) I also have LOTS of financial books on the subject.

I was kind of planning to follow your line of attack. Thankyou for reinforcing what I had in mind.
