Jeanne, I'm about to strain my eyes rolling them in disbelief at your post. I am not talking about Vitale, Canfield et al. If you read my post you will see the words 'popping out of the woodwork to teach people about how stuff works, on youtube and whatnot.' Vitale and Canfield aren't exactly popping out of the woodwork and poor, are they? They've been at this for years. Canfield is actually pretty good, Vitale is a nice guy, but no 'metaphysician' as he calls himself these days. He's a marketing guy. And he's seemingly made most of his money selling books and seminars on, ahem, 'the secret' - just like so many others telling you about it have.

So read my post again. Then go to youtube and type 'LOA' or 'The Secret' or something like that and you'll see the not-so-very affluent 'experts' I'm talking about. This whole phenomenon is turning into a joke, and it's a shame, because it might very well end up with NOBODY taking this seriously after a while.

Bjhn. Spread to the rest of the world? The Secret is directed by an Australian. I'm posting this in Norway. This isn't exactly new to any of outside the US. I first came across books on this in 1987. Sure, Oprah (and Larry King etc) have spread the word and helped this 'explosion' but believe it or not, even non-Americans knew about that.

And 'the man in the street,' isn't that us regular people? Regular people are often into self-help - at least self help stuff is much more common among regular folks than the rich. I should have some knowledge of this as I work with some of the wealthiest people in my area (and, to a degree, in this country) as a financial advisor.

My friend NitNit, have you actually watched or read The Secret at all? If so, then you know that they SAY it's not new. It's one of those things that's so simple, people just forget to use it.

I don't know about "popping out of the woodwork" because frankly I don't pay much attention to the woodwork. I have read some of the books, though, and was delighted to see that some of this material is again seeing some popularity. Some of it, in fact, is being put together more coherently than it was when I first started reading some of this--and mind you, that was circa 1950s.

No need for the hostility: remember, what we send out just comes back. That's one of the messages in The Secret, too.

I thought I should address this. I don't do much YouTubing, but I see nothing wrong with people using it to talk about their ideas, whether it's about The Secret or something else. The truly good thing is that people ARE talking about it, and they're curious about it. I don't know about the rest of the world, but I think these ideas can only in the US, where negative thinking as become something of a fine art.

As you said, these are not new ideas, but they've been buried among the dogma of our holy books, lost in the dust of old books from the late 1800s and early 1900s. The nice thing about The Secret is that it pulled a lot of this together in one place, making it easy to see and understand.

Funny you should mention you're european. So am I. What's up with your hostility? You need to get it out of your system. Looks like you got something to prove. Please prove it for us.

I've been using manifestations earlier before I came across The Secret too with OK success, but it hasn't made me rich or anything. There's a difference using a self hypnosis tape with no creative processes teached which I have done so far and the way The Secret teaches it. The Secret is more methodical and I have found I prefer that.

I've been strapped for cash sometimes, but I have never let it influence me negatively. My philosphy has always been "The problem will fix itself and the money I need will manifest itself in some way". And it has never failed so far.

I know eh! It has taken off big time because of Oprah (now she turns everything she touches into GOLD) otherwise how would you explain the likes of Esther Hicks and Abraham just being introduced to so many, through The Secret?

Come to think of it - someone had mentioned in the previous posts that the secret is dangerous cause you attract the good and the bad - would that explain why someone defaced my gorgeous car without any fault of mine? I am finding it very hard not to curse that person but am taking deeeeeeep breaths .... exhale ....haaaaaaaa!

In the movie The Secret (or maybe Michael Losier said that), someone said "the universe is dumb, that it does not differentiate the good from the bad, it simply delivers on your wishes" What a croak! If it doesn't differentiate from the good and the bad then how come the bad gets delivered more often than not? How come Esther Hicks said the bad vibrates more resoundingly than the positive. Why is the positve so weak. Am I to think that if there was a battle between the good and the bad - that the bad, the evil the satan would win? I am telling you, I am steaming right now, so nothing positive is flowing through my head. I would really like to knock the person's teeth out for costing me thousands of dollars! Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!!!!
Grrrrr. Pow wow dhishum dhishum!

I like to occasionally reverse it. Look at an event that occurred and consider my choices.

Someone damaged your car... in this instant it created an attraction of your anger. You weren't angry before but your car created for you anger by being damaged. So now the car doesn't look good and you don't feel good.

Now consider as a thinking person I have a choice I can be disappointed by the appearance of the car and the potential cost of repair. Or I can de-magnetise myself to the event. Release the attraction and move out of anger.

Thereby changing the law of attraction.

Now if you want to be angry about your car I won't deny you that. I am just pointing out that you've been used by the law of attraction to feel anger.

Commonly we want to feel happy feel joy and then something happens to take us out of that play we react automatically habitually like a magnet to these events and allow them to take us away from our peace and happiness. Technically here we want to stop behaving automaticly to events that take us out of peace. So that we can continue to enjoy the happiness in the moment. If you can remove your emotions from the event so you are not attracted to feeling anger then you would feel more peace. It doesn't mean crap like this stops happening. They just stop being earth shattering experiences that take you out of your peace for days and days on end. The fact that it's going to cost $$$ for repairs doesn't change but you get to change your luck. As research will show.

Extract.
By Professor Richard Wiseman, University of Hertfordshire-

Why do some people get all the luck while others never get the breaks they deserve?

Unlucky people are generally more tense than lucky people, and this anxiety disrupts their ability to notice the unexpected.

As a result, they miss opportunities because they are too focused on
looking for something else. They go
to parties intent on finding their perfect partner and so miss
opportunities to make good friends. They look
through newspapers determined to find certain types of job advertisements
and miss other types of jobs.

Lucky people are more relaxed and open, and therefore see what is there
rather than just what they are looking for. My research eventually revealed that lucky people generate good fortune via four principles.

They are skilled at creating and noticing chance opportunities, make lucky
decisions by listening to their intuition, create self-fulfilling prophesies via positive expectations, and adopt a resilient attitude that transforms bad luck into good.

See the book the Luck Factor.

In short I'm saying be tense you will miss out on good fortune and under the law of attraction you allowed an external event to magnetically trigger strong emotions that close you off to noticing those lucky breaks.

Alex, I understand and agree with you 100%. Strangely enough, I would have reiterated the very words, had the incident happened to someone else. I do realize the consequences of hanging on to ill feelings such as anger and the fear or worry of having to spend $ that I do not have. But I also realize, deep down, that this mishap may just have been the results of me attracting good karma - I think I mentioned somewhere (and to people at work who are investigating this matter as it was caught on camera) that there is some good to come out of this event. Maybe I was destined for a bigger accident and instead, ended up having a small misfortune on the parking lot. Maybe when I go get my car fixed, I will meet the man of my dreams (hey, a girl can hope and dream no!!

I do realize and appreciate you reiterating my own sentiments but I must admit, I would not be "me" if I did not let my frustrations out. I slept well last night - the incident didn't bother me much. I woke up a couple of times wondering why someone would do that ... then moved on to a deep restful sleep - each time.

This morning, I woke up and my first thought was - 2 years down the road, this incident won't even be in my top 1000 memorable moments so why sweat it. I think, I bounced back and am in the right vibration feeling calm and detached.

There is always a reason for everything - we may not get to know the reason but nothing happens 'out of the blue'. I have decided to trust God's plan and forgive the person who did this. In fact, in my gratitude statement today, I thanked the driver for bringing this lesson to my life.

All is well. Thank you for caring - your words made me realize I am learning well.

Hi Peyton

I know what you mean as I was in your shoes too until I've read the book "The Secret" and what it said makes sense. However, that said, I still slipped from time to time and negative thoughts do pop out.

What I do is try to consicously be aware of the thoughts of my sub-conscious mind, and I've taken to wearing a rubber band on my wrist. As soon as I find myself in the negative zone, I'll use the rubber band to hit against my wrist so that there's a stinging pain.. I notice that since wearing it, the no. of times I hit my wrists has reduced..

Like you, as I've just started on practicing the Law Of Attraction, I would also dearly love to hear from the existing practitioners on what other methods they employed to apply the Law Of Attractions in their life

In addition, I was recently given a latest issue of a FREE report by my mentor of an exclusive interview with Bob Proctor talking about The Secret, The Law of Attraction and Creative Visualization.. and it's an enlightening reading material.
