Hello again!

I have a problem with mind mapping: It's taking me 40 minutes to draw all the branches. Yes I know, there should be only the important parts, but what if everything there is important?

Best wishes,
AndriDem

CPW1 thanks for your reply and motivation...
I saw some videos on YOUtube and one thing that i understood is: everything must be based on your PURPOSE.. but as i said, there could be a lot of trigger words that relate to my question:"Why do i read this book?"

Best wishes
AndriDem

Me personally I do not use more than 25 trigger words.Try writing all your trigger words in one bubble or picture ask yourself which ones can I scratch out? If amy kind of question or though pops in your head draw a branch and quicky write it down.

Let your Creative side take over if you have to buy a big poster board

But for example if my book has a lot of chapters, that don't relate with each other(for example an encyclopedia), should i draw a mind map for each chapter?)

Best wishes,
AndriDem

In the example that you give, an encyclopedia, I would answer yes, a mind map for each chapter and perhaps a more general simple one for entire work (i.e. simply the main point of the book and title in the middle and the chapters as branches).

An encyclopedia is really a collection of articles and any book that is similarly structured, in general should be treated during the entire PR process from prepare to activate as reading seperate articles.

If one is reading the great work with the purpose, "I want to find something in this book that will be of value to me for the purpose of x", then the PR is to find which article(s) one should spend more time on.

In other words, part of the answer to your question in in your purpose. One could PR 10 books (or articles or whatever), to find what one should spend more or less time on.

I think this is one the strengths of the PR system: to change the way we think of reading material to "weed out" or focus on, as needed.

Therefore, if one wanted to read sucha great work, what one mind maps would depend on the purpose.

If the reference work was indeed something we needed for a class, or a job or some other specific task or purpose, still one should treat each article as a seperate work and keep in mind and focused on one's purpose. This can help in cutting the time down and work spent. Because thought there may be a lot of information in the collection or even in a specific article, it is likely that we don't need all of it. And what we DO need, our other than conscious mind will help us with if we let it and direct it to.

Hope that helps.

blessings,

Steve

shakurav, thanks for your reply first of all...

As i understood, i should filter all the unnecessary stuff, that doesn't fit to my purpose, and put on my mind map everything that is related to it...

But what if I want to know EVERYTHING in this encyclopedia))?

Best wishes,
AndriDem

I am testing iMindMap from Tony Buzan. I suggest You to try it out too because it is a great help. Well at least for me. The result is quicker mindmapping and better mindmap design which is important too because when You create a mindmap You want it to be interesting, full of colors, images etc. It is much easier to activate and learn that way.

Hope this helps a bit.

Best Wishes,
Matt
