I always have trouble entering the accelerative learning state. I can never seem to relax. What should I do?

Hey Anthony,

I gave this advice to a few people on the forums before, and they seemed pretty happy with it, so I'll tell you, too.

When you first close your eyes, take a deep breath in, and hold it. Don't let it out yet. First, try to feel five heartbeats, without putting your hands against your chest. Just feel your heart beating against the inside of your body, 5 times. Then let it out, slowly, letting out all tensions and stresses that you have. Do this multiple times.
Then do what Learning Strategies offers, counting down from 3.

Envision the number 3 in your head, as you hear the word "relax."
Do the same but see the number 2.
Hear the number "one" in your head, and vision a flower or plant.

Then do the tangerine technique.

It might seem like a lot, but it really only takes a minute or two, three at most. And it works really well, I use it not only when I read, but almost every single time I have to do work or prepare for something. I hope it works for you too.

Hi Jacktuff13!

Thanks for the great advice. It really does work. After a few times doing this exercise I feel relaxed.

Best wishes,
