Hi!

When RapidReading I'm a having a lot of difficulty getting through
a whole book in just 30 minutes – as recommended in the "5 day test".
And I find myself oscillating between two points. I usually start out
RapidReading pretty quickly, sentence by sentence. At the pace I
think will get me through an entire book in 30 minutes. But very soon
my conscious mind starts to worry, "I'm not really getting much
comprehension out of this, even if this is the way RapidReading
is suppose to be done according to the instructions". My usual
repsonse to this is to slow down and start over-dipping instead,
resulting in me maybe getting through 10-15 pages instead of an
entire 250 page book in the 30 minutes.

(I know of course that I can add as much additional time as I'd like,
but that usually results in hours upon hours, and I'd like to be able
to get through a book in 30-60 minutes while RapidReading).

So I was wondering, when rapid reading through a book, at varying
speeds, are you supposed to understand every paragraph you read,
and if you don't, slow down and go back over it? Or IS RapidReading
more like SuperReading – in the sense that you're pushing yourself
to go faster than you conscious mind normally would comprehend
texts analytically, seeing the words a bit blurry at times, with the
main goal being of restimulating those non-conscious connections
in the brain that were created while PhotoReading?

I hope you understand what I'm getting at. And can give me some useful
tips and comments, since RapidReading, for me as a beginner, still
feels like an important step, in getting the reassurance that comes
from a bit more comprehension of the materials at a conscious level.

My conscious mind is holding on for dear life to the old paradigm of
analytical reading, I know. So give this sucker some helpful pointers
along the way.

It just means you need to use superreading more. Rapid reading is a combination of all the reading styles. Superreading down to skittering down to rhythmic perusal to analytical reading. It depends on how familiar you are what your questions are and what else you want to know. You adjust your speed according to need throughout the book.

Rapid reading is the same as the other activation techniques. The only difference is you start at the beginning and end at the end. With general activation you start where the answer to your most dominant question lies.

You're not supposed to get it all in one go. Use a timer with 10 minute warnings so you can push yourself.
