Has there ever been any discussions on comparisons / contrasts between Reiki and Qigong?

Obviously Reiki is Japanese in origin while Qigong is Chinese, but both appear to do more or less the same sorts of things, at least to my untrained eyes.

Reiki uses symbols and my instructor told us we could choose to use semi-precious stones (tiger's eye, etc) during the healing sessions. In my coursework in Reiki we never did any formal active exercises, kata's or forms.

I'd be interested in hearing other people's opinions / experiences on the subject.

Interesting question. I have the same question concerning Polarity Healing wherein the body is divided into negative and positive areas. Your positive palm goes to a negative position on the body and the negative palm goes to the positive position in-between the problem area.

Hi Monkbiker'
That question was asked a few times now. Reiki is
a form of qi gong. Qi is energy, gong is work. So
it all means energy work. No matter what type of
energy healing, it all is qi gong. I think that Shawn
answered a question on here a while back. Someone asked what
is the best, qigong or reiki. The answer was, whatever works
the best for you. Energy is energy, no matter where it
comes from.

I hope this helps a bit.

Thanks gabby. Shakurav sent me a few links to previous discussions on this topic.

I haven't had time to read through these yet - I plan on doing so this evening.

On a separate note - freestyleaikido - do you practice Aikido? I practiced Tae Kwon Do for a long time, Vietnamese Kung Fu for a shorter time and Tai Chi very briefly. I would dearly love to find an Aikido school near me, but the closest one would require driving for about 30 miles one way into a very very bad neighborhood. It's not happening.
