Hello,

I took the photoreading seminar earlier this year, but since then I've been so busy with other activities I've almost forgotten about the potential photoreading can have for me at college this fall.

I know its important to start with smaller books, not textbooks. I have a few I still want to read for just pleasure reading..

The first one is The Brain That Changes Itself, about 410 pages long including the index, acknowledgments and references.

I think thats a good starting book to improve my photoreading over the rest of the summer.

Should I do it daily? I just need a general outline.

I'm trying to keep my attitude positive so my brain can get the hang of it \:\)

Thanks for the help, -Kyle

P.S. Is there a list of recommended books from learning strategies? I got one email a while ago listing about 5 books but thats all.

Hey Kyle,

http://www.learningstrategies.com/RecommendedReading.asp

They have very good books there, so far I've only checked out one (The Speed of Trust; The One Thing that Changes Everything), and it was very, VERY good.
It has a bunch of others on the brain, psychology, and it even includes Happy For No Reason.

Over the summer, I plan on visiting the library often, and photoreading/activating at least five books a week, hopefully more.

I think the book you chose would be good to start with, but photoread everything you can get your hands on.

Honestly, I haven't been photoreading much lately, either, but I am starting again.

Should you photoread daily? Yes. Should you photoread the same book daily? If you want, but it's not necessary.

I hope I could help.

kLMN,

Use the five-day test as described in the PhotoReading book. You spend about 30 minutes at each activation layer. This can be done in one day, just take a break for each 30 minutes. I recommend books that you like to read. If you are curious why not look at the bibliography of the PhotoReading book?
