Hello,

I have the MO course, but I can't tell the difference between the ABC list and the ANCHORMANS list. She metions both in the course but I can't tell if she mean two different lists or both for ABC list.
HELP!!!

The Anchorman's List is your primary peg list of ABCs. It's your main reference that connects the letter to the number. For me the letter D is for donkey & it has 4 legs.

The other ABC lists do not match w/ the numbers of the alphabet. Plus, say if you do an ABC list for colors. You won't remember them exactly & one day P may be purple and another day it may be pink. The anchorman ABC list does not change.

One more question: If I wanted to 'memorize' a book with 26 important topics that I had to remember, use the ABC lists and then
for the concepts and principles use the link or some other mnemonic. Example:
If I were studying old Norse religion where they have many gods-if they are 26 gods could I peg each god and then use the story/chain system to link information about him/her.

Yes, you sure can do that to remember the gods. Use the story or creative sentences. A creative sentence would be: My very educated mother just served us nine pizzas. This takes care of the 9 planets.

It will take a certain amount of time to do it initially, but you'll save tons of time in the long run. Plus, review is easy & can be done any time on an off time like driving a car. Another thing is that it'll help your overall ability to retain stuff, all kinds of stuff.

If i had a book of 26 chapters and i ONLY wanted to recall the chapters, then i'd use each chapter for an ABC list. A = the first chapter. But, why would you want to remember all 26 chapters? Chapter 9 would be I ( i have 9 innings in a baseball game). So whatever 9 is, you'll have to start it w/ an I.

I'd do this for a chapter---important chapters only--- I'd do an ABC list for all important facts & trigger words. Then i'd MM it. I'd also do some analograffiti & MM for important terms. I've already done this & it's very fascinating. Write the term XXXXXX. Then using the letters going down select a word that applies to this word. Do this for each letter. Then going up MM for the letter. You'd be amazed at how much comes to mind. Really, i was shocked.

Then if it's really important, i'd tape some important ideas or words i wanted to remember & then get into an alpha state & listen to it. Might listen to it as i went to sleep too. Very effective to listen to your own voice.

Great tips! Another thing about the ABC lists, you CAN associate your ideas, in this case the names of gods with the numbers as well as the letters of the alphabet. That's what I do. It brings about even more ideas for me. For example, to prepare for a sign language interpreting exam, I created an ABC list by connecting a particular sign with the number and letter of the alphabet, until I had done all 26. For example, for "A" I chose the sign for ALWAYS, on "1" because you sign ALWAYS by using your index finger, like the number 1, and move in a circular motion in front of your body. I did this for each sign. Some were more difficult than others to associate the number, but it made me much more creative than just choosing a sign that begins with that English letter. And, these are now 26 vocabulary items that I will not forget. You don't need to start with "A" and go down the list either.

I understand about not 'memorizing' all 26 chapters of say, a biology book. The book (really books) I was refering to was the New Testament.

Well, I hope you find what you are looking for. As it was pointed out, it takes more time to explain it then it does to just do it. I just played with it a bit and used intelligent gap management to fill in the gap. I've been applying the tricks for scriptutres as well. It's been a blast and a blessing.
