To add to that, Al Siebert, author of Survivor Personality and creator of Resiliency course with Paul Scheele, talks about three inner "selfs" to describe what makes some people emotionally stronger than others. He also tells you how to strengthen these "selfs." The three "selfs" are: self-esteem, self-confidence, and self-concept.
He describes self-esteem as your emotional opinion of yourself, or how you feel about yourself.
He describes self-confidence as your reputation with yourself, in other words, acknowledging what you do well, or your action predictor.
He describes self-concept as the "gatekeeper" that controls your ideas about who you are and what you are as a person. Inother words, your identity in the world.
