Well yeah, I agree, purpose is very personal.
But I would appreciate inputs from you guys if you this this purpose is good enough for PhotoReading or is it vague and unclear ?

I got 10 books related to Software Project Management. I am a programmer trying to make the shift to a Software Project Manager job. I plan to apply the "Photoread 10 books a day for 3 months, activate one book every week" method which Alex mentioned in another post. The purpose I have for this is like :

"I am photoreading these books so I can get a good overview of the Software project management practices and principles. This will help me in clearing any job interviews for the post of a Software Project Manager and also help me in doing the work once I have the job"

Do let me know your views on this purpose statement. I guess I wouldn't get much out of the whole exercise unless my purpose is clear. So I thought about making this post before I spend the next 3 months on this.

Thanks,
thePhotoReader

get a good overview

Too open for me. It doesn't give me something to know that I know what I need to know.

I think its reasonable to expect that you have a "working knowledge" of software project management and principles. That way can self check... if someone asked me to handle this today is my knowledge workable, can I apply it? What do I need to know to apply it? If I had to do this could I trust my knowledge with reasonable confidence>

I also suggest you use that as the big goal and might have mini purposes for the books and chapters themselves. So your purpose for the session/chapter might be To be able to fix x problem using the information in chapter y. From there you can make mind probing questions with that goal in mind.
