I've just tried to photoread a book. It's called "La Casa de los Espíritus" (The House of th Spirits) and it was written by Isabel Allende. If you read any work of this author, you know she is characterized by many characters include. Furthermore, most of them are family, ie, there are related. But I think, how can I activate the book on this case?

Actualy, my purpose to read it was "Know the plot of the novel for enjoying in the activation phase". Do it was right? Really I want to read it bacause I have an exam about their plot on tuesday.

If you're just enjoying the novel then read it as you would a novel using rapid reading. As you are still developing your PhotoReading activation skills your rapid reading won't be as effective so don't be surprised to find you are passive reading.

If you are reading this novel for school then you would normally need to read it 3 times. Then the process is. PhotoRead, activate for the essentials, character, plot, location, moral, era and so on. Then finish with a rapid read. If you've done your activation fully with multiple 20 minute passes and probably spent 2 or 3 hours with the book by this time you would finish a rapid read in 30 to 60 minutes.

That in effect keeps the flow of reading a book for critiquing a novel for studying. There you are expected to read the book three times. Slow normal read 10 to 18 hours, faster the second time about 6 hours and then skim 1 to 2 hours.

For enjoyment, use the rapid reading activation technique.
