Hi,

I have recently started Photoreading and am getting frustrated at trying to keep the book open so I can focus on the spine... Seems that when I try to turn the page the whole book tries to close...
I LOVE my books and don't particularly wish to dammage the spines by pre-bending the book back so it lays flat...

Also, I prefer not to at a table so the whole page-turning, having the book in the right postition etc. etc. just seems to frustrate me so I loose focus, and get uptight and makes me feel like a fumbling idiot... Sitting at a table to photoread is uncomfortable and makes me think of school days and 'having to sit up and pay attention' so relaxing is difficult...
Any advice greatfully recieved.

Welcome to the Photoreading forum.

Some background considerations. Anything you look at, hear or feel, smell etc is recorded by the mind. So here you are looking to build a pattern of emphasis that has a purpose to improve your reading skills.

Relax, you really cannot do it wrong. I have old books and am very careful with them and found it no problem how I turn the pages. Just turn the pages like your admiring the book, though you carefully turn the pages as it is good for the book.

Your mind records whatever you put in front of it. You can sit there quietly and think 'I am here recording the book as I carefully turn the pages', 'This way I will know the book entire, again at my leisure and goodly effort'.

You do not need to see the blip in the middle of the page; you do not see blips when you thoughtfully look at any picture or scene, and your mind is recording it all. Remember, the biggest factor by far is unfolding the whole skill; ie, 'using or getting it out of the memory as logic understanding what you have thoughtfully looked at with intention to know it'. Or intuition proven in/as/through experience of use.

I don't like PhotoReading at the table either. I prefer to do it in my office chair or a low chair with an armrest. As turning the pages at the table gives me sore shoulders I prefer to rest my arm on the armrest and the book on my thigh. Keep the spine straight so I'm usually sitting at the front edge of thee chair.

I demonstrate this in my classes as it's easier to get it when you see it.
