Because I always find the wrong paragraph when superreading.(I guess that is because I feel uncomfortable if I have to skip something even when I have specific questions..) So now I'd searched for subjects about the skittering.

I definitely know what AndriDem mean, and I have the same question.

Logical speaking, what he mean is that:

if there are total 300 paragraphs in a book, then superreading will skip lots of them due to the purpose, for example, we only dipped 35 paragraphs from this book(~11%) due to the intuition(from PR) and the purpose.

But on the other hand, skittering have to read every paragraphs that is totally different from the superreading and dipping.

Someone knows what I mean?
for superreading ,there are 265 trash paragraphs.
But for skittering, we have to read every paragraphs which are regarded as the trash from the view of superreading.

OK, maybe during several activations we have superreaded half of them, and there are still 150 trash paragraphs. And the superreader ridicule his skittering reader friend: Hey! you see! you have read 150 trash paragraphs that didn't conform to our purpose!

So I think that depends on the material. If every paragraphs are important in that book, then we skittering, if not, then superreading. Is it correct?

And what is the standard speed of skittering? For an academic book for example, is skittering slower than superreading? If we average take 20 seconds/page for skittering and dipping, then how much time we take approximatively for skittering?

Can we (Superreading+skittering)/2 ?
I mean, basically we use superreading, but the way we pick up the concepts we want is by substitute from dipping to skittering? Ya..my English is so bad, so let it be simple. I mean this:
Originally : superreading + dipping(on paragraphs)
Now is : superreading + skittering(on words)

For pure skittering, we have to read 1st sentence of every paragraph and the title in each chapters. but now we don't have to read the title(like the superreading) we don't need to read every 1st sentence, We just go ahead, superreading each paragraph , and skittering around. Maybe some trash paragraphs we just pick up one or two words, but that is fine ,right? So basically , we just skittering from 1st page to the end page, but don't need to read every title and every 1st sentence.

Is it workable?

Skittering is best applied to textbooks and for more details when you want a bit more than superreading is giving you.

Use as you need them according to what you want from the book.

As for your strategy. "Is it workable" For you? Try it and see.

In rapid reading you use all the techniques of activation working from the front of the book to the end. Some pages you may super superread, others skitter, Rhymically peruse a whole paragraph as desired.
