I have not begun practicing the techniques properly yet. I have only been listening to the course and watching the videos throughout the last few days.

My question is, since I purchased the digital version of the PhotoReading Deluxe course, meaning I can't use the physical versions of the PhotoReading Manual and Natural Brilliance books recomended for the training, should I use another physical book on a totally different subject, or would it be just as effective if I begin the training using an iPad, even though the tutorials are being described using a physical book? Just to be clear, I also have the ebooks converted to Kindle.

I just want to make sure I begin in the most effective way I can. Personally I prefer reading from an iPad because I don't have to hold down the pages and it is much easier to flip to the next. My only concern is in not being able to see the book exactly as Paul describes in the tutorial. I am aware of being able to split Kindle pages in two making it look similar to a real book, but is it a good idea to start the course like this.

I also understand the importance of beginning the course using the PhotoReading books themselves, which is why I am aksing.

So in short, would it be better to begin using a physical book on a different subject (Wrong subject / Correct material) or an ebook on the correct subject I.E PhotoReading (Correct subject / Wrong material)

Apologies in advance for my ability to make simple things complicated.

Thanks

Do, Just listening is not a way to develop the skill,. Print the manual, that makes it physical. PhotoReading the books on the computer.

I preferred to learn the system with printed material since reading on screen is naturally slower than reading printed books. Once you learn the system it makes no difference.

The advantage of printed material, it's easier to recognise and experience some evidence of the system working, like thinking of a question, just opening the book to the correct page. Also flipping the pages is faster than on devices and computers. As well as being scary fast on computers when you hold the key.

If it's possible to split pages for the ebook you are PhotoReading I suggest you do so. It's just simply faster with the tapping technique.

PhotoRead the PhotoReading book as advised in the course. There is a reason the course introduces the system by PhotoReading the PhotoReading book.

Thank you for the question and thank you Alex for all the helpful articles on your website.
I too am concerned about photoreading electronic vs printed materials. I do not have a portable screen: my 17" laptop is not really portable and I haven't figured our how to set up the page to view two pages - or even one whole page. I printed the manual but I'm wondering if I should order CDs and books instead of immediate download.
I have trifocals and I understand that can cause additional challenges.
Can anyone offer any helpful suggestions?
Thank you

Dor, I like having physical courses. I find they get forgotten and unfinished too often and wind up burning the recordings that I have the physical reminder. That's me

I also love handling physical books. Being in Australia I wind up getting a lot shipped from Amazon that are not available in Australia. Even so I prefer to buy them on my Kindle. I still find activation of the physical book much more enjoyable it's easier to jump to the page I want to activate by opening the book.

I was incidentally demonstrating activation in front of a seminar where I said I might ask this question of the author and then would open the book to a page. Since I was doing this with the book facing the participants and not myself we didn't expect that I would open the page exactly to the one that answers the question. One of the participants pointed it out. Stuff like that is harder to experience with the digital course.

Another reason I like to learn with physical books is it is faster to naturally read printed books. Especially complicated textbooks. (Unfortunately research is backing me with that one. Books on subjects the reader is familiar with or light reading there is no discernible difference in reading speed on electronic readers, which is nice however not true for computer or PC).

The position of the printed text is different on a PC and PC reading was found to be slower than reading traditional books by 25%. That is one reason I recommended one would start with printed books. As you're already slower to start with.

On tablets and ereaders one does have the considered advantage making the text larger. Something printed books miss out on for the challenged readers who find the fine print of text slowing them down.

When you buy the digital course, which is the logical option if considering international shipping and duties some countries add on top as well as the delay in getting the course, Follow the course handling digital reading is explained in the course, go easy on yourself when after working with the ebooks included in the course doesn't seem all that you think it could be. Start grabbing some similar sized (200 or so pages) books on subjects that interest you and repeat the 3rd book exercise or better yet the five day test mentioned in the PhotoReading book.

To set up 2 pages in acrobat reader find preferences (Ctrl K)
Page display can be set to two up there.

Set up your preferences for full screen reading in the preferences as well. When you want to PhotoRead a document if it isn't displayed in two pages I recommend switching to that from the tool bar first. Hitting Ctrl L will bring up full screen (Esc to get out). If you set the time to advance each screen you can sit back and PhotoRead. Otherwise tap the spacebar or page down up key for page turning.

The 17inch screen is fine, when you can see the shapes of the words you'll be able to PhotoRead them fine. Since during PhotoReading you're not using your regular reading vision. For activation take advantage of the fact that you can control the text and make it comfortable for reading.

I bought the electronic version along with the Genius Code which I see you are also the moderator of Alex. I guess the two programs compliment each other but I'm wondering how to go forward with both programs (how to incorporate and work through them both and gain the most).
Are there any articles for individuals who wear trifocals - or should I start a new topic? I did a search but nothing came up.
I think I heard Paul Scheele suggest that it is difficult to see periferally with the small area of focus for reading using trifocals.
Any help on this matter would be appreciated.
Thanks again.

Work through one at a time. They complement each other there is no overlap. Finish one then start the other. Revisit as you please.

If you have reading glasses I recommend them. Most I know who have mulitfocal glasses usually own a pair of reading glasses or even some magnifying glasses for reading if it suits their vision. It's easier for longer term. As it's not only difficult peripherally it's also too small an area for comfortable longer term reading.

For the PhotoReading step use the imaginary X technique. When you have vision problems it becomes harder to see 3D images. Though I know someone who has great success seeing them with multifocal glasses. Not seen through the reading portion. So for PhotoReading she'd be set with Multifocals. For activation switch to reading glasses.

If you're using digital devices. Switch the text to a size that makes it easy to use the centre of multifocalsm for activation if you want to save switching glasses. For the PhotoReading step you can have it at its smallest setting.

Overall, you will need to test and see what works for you.

Sorry about the huge delay.

I'm getting on pretty well anyway. I must be honest though I am more excited by the idea of pulling out keywords than the actuall PhotoReading stage. I'm kind of breaking the rules, rather than pulling out just 10 – 20 keywords I'm pulling out over 100 (as many most relevant to that subject as I can find) which does have an enormous when I re-read the books using the 4% - 11% idea.

I am currently not very concerned about the PhotoReading step itself working, but I am still doing it and following the incubation step also, but yeah the Trigger Words step is fantastic. I was using an iPad app that speeds up text to 4'000 WPM and since it was too fast for me to read I got the idea of at least trying to spot Trigger Words that will grab my attention which would help me when I lower the speed so I can actually read it, but never did I even think about writing the words down which should have been so obvious.

Having the Trigger Words on a big page that I can look at every once in a while also reminds me of all of the important aspects, and of course enhances my connection with the material.

Thanks very much for the replies, I have read them and they are very helpful, but as I said I'm not really worrying about the PhotoReading process, the idea's in the entire program are amazing, especially the part about having a purpose (I know that's important for anything you do, but I would have never in my life have gone into it so much when reading a book)

About listening to the program over and over, I know it's better to learn by doing, but I have a habit of drilling all of the most important points into my head over and over before I begin doing anything, I basically sat there for days writing most of what I was listening to into Open Office and I have now rearranged it all into separate files for each stage. I know there is no need to do that, but since it's a long process, I just think and think about what I'm writing. Ready to really dig in now though.

Thanks again

Well yeah right now I'm learning it the way I feel comfortable learning it, but yes maybe some day I'll learn it the exact way other people want me to learn it -_-
