Hi all,
I'm new to this forum and to using the paraliminal CD's. I have a question about the Ideal Weight CD. I have been using it as suggested for almost a week now. I listen to session A one day and B the next day. I figured out how to work my CD player to replay a track and so Monday night I went to sleep listening to track 3 from A and then last night track 7 from B. I woke up and turned off the CD after about 2 hours both nights.

Ok, here is my question. What exactly am I supposed to feel from this? I don't feel anything changing in my thoughts or feelings around eating and actually I am just feeling absolutely HUNGRY all day today even though I've had breakfast and midmorning snack (fruit). I was really hoping that the opposite would be happening and that I would NOT be hungry. I'm trying to lose weight, not gain.

Help please.
Thanks

Hungry for what?

A piece of fruit may not satisfy hunger if it isn't the nutrients your body was after.

One of the things to do before eating is to ask yourself what am I hungry for what would satisfy my hunger best right now.

Your hunger could be another need that you need to look after. Be doing something you're not doing. We often eat when we have an emotional void that needs filling and it feels like hunger.

Hunger signals are also miscues for the need to drink more water. You might need to up your fluid intake.

Also if you're following a diet 3 meals 2 snacks may not be right for you. You might need to look at grazing. Having pieces of raw fruit and vegetables to snack on throughout the day. People have reported that a couple of pieces of carrot can quickly satisfy the hunger.

For many people learning to recognise hunger is a real breakthrough in losing weight. All too often we don't know how to identify hunger from all the other body signals we get. So it will probably settle down again in a week or so.

Check into protein - I struggled all my life with hunger and have upped my protein intake within the last year and my hunger is now under control. And I don't mean bacon and hotdogs I'm talking about no or low preservatives and lean cuts of protein - I also supplement with protein shakes/drinks. This will not work for everyone but it works for many.

Oh and I rarely eat refined overprocessed, pre-packaged, in a box or can foods.

A good, natural, healthy diet combined with the paraliminal should put you on the right path to good health.

One of the subtle things I found in using this paraliminal was that my food choices began to change with no effort on my part. For example, I would go to a resturant and one of the salads would just sound better to me than a high fat food so I would choose the salad. Or I would have water rather than a soda becuase the water tasted better and I stopped liking the taste of soda. So for me the changes were more about my food choices.

I have also found that balancing healthy proteins with complex carbohydrates has worked in reducing hunger. I was not aware how carbohydrate heavy my diet was until after I started using the paraliminal and began to notice my food choices changing.

Hope this helps you
Nickie

Thanks for the replies.
Alex, "hungry for what?" .... anything sweet!
I do drink a lot of water, more than the recommended 8 glasses a day. It's not that I'm thirsty.

I would like to ask another question. Nickie, how long did you listen to the CD before you started noticing things? I've listened for a week and wonder if I should just keep going or what.
Thanks

"Anything Sweet"

Did you get a cookie or a sweet when things went wrong when you were younger? The desire for something sweet is often associated with stress in ones life.

If you have Deep Relaxation use that during the day once in a while. It can reduce your stress level and reduce your desire for sweets.

We rarely got sweets when we were younger. I didn't have a problem with sweets until more recently. Now I seem to crave them most of the time. I don't feel that I'm under a lot of stress either but my sis tells me I am and just don't know that's what it is. hmm....

I'll try the deep relaxation though since it sounds nice anyway.

But for the Ideal Weight CD, should I just keep listening to it every day for a long time, month, longer?

A month is good. If you reach a point you don't feel like listening give it a break you can return any time.

Hi Dickens

Sorry, I am just getting back to read your post where you asked me how long I listened to Ideal Weight.

I noticed changes after about a week of listening every day. Then I started to change Ideal Weight up with the positive relationship paraliminal. I was working on the relationship I have with myself using that paraliminal because I felt like my weight had something to do with how I was relating to myself. I listened until I didn't think about listening any more....

Hope that helps. I also hope you keep us informed about your progress.

Many blessings
Nickie
