Last week I was over at my cousin's house with a few other friends and we decided to play with his Ouija board. I admit I am the type of guy who is skeptical about these kind of things and this was my first experience playing with an Ouija board(I never took these things seriously).
For those of you who are not familiar with the Ouija, here is a brief description on how they work. First of all you need at least 2 people on the board, each person places a few fingers on the planchette(the movable device that points to the letters and numbers on the board). One person is supposed to ask a question and the planchette should start moving on its own will and spell out the answer on the board. Some people believe we are communicating with spirits from another realm, or they believe it is actually our subconscious moving the pointer using the slight vibrations our fingers generate(ideomotor effect) as the push energy.
We all took turns using the board/asking questions, and if I was a skeptic before, I now believe there was definately something unexplained going on. While we were using the board I could trust that nobody was intentionally moving the pointer(we are all in our mid 20's and relatively mature, plus it would be quite obvious if somebody were intentionally pushing the thing). The pointer seemed to move on own will like some other unexplained force was guiding it.
We talked to an assortment of different spirits that night, everything from Guardian angels, wandering spirits that died several years ago, child spirits, and even the occasional evil spirit or demon. At times the pointer moved so rapidly we were barely able to keep up, and other times it was sluggish. The spirits told us who they were, when they were born/died, how they died(usually the case of a violent death or murder), what they did in life, the colors of our auras and what they meant, the afterlife/spirit world, and a lot of other interesting information. Some good spirits gave us advice, while some bad spirits threatened us.
Well I can't explained what happened and it will be an experience I will not forget. One of the weird things was that each spirit we spoke to seemed to have its own personality and way of communicating. Some of them were very bad spellers, some spelt phonetically(eg Axe instead of Ask), some spelt perfect english, while some didn't speak English at all. Also some spirits moved the planchette faster than other.
Has anybody had any good/bad Ouija board experiences??? What is everybodies theory regarding how it moves? If it is due to our subconscious then can the Ouija board be a good tool for uncovering that which is buried deep in within us, and a tool for learning more about ourselves? Also I realize the Ouija is a very controversial subject, some people believe its evil and dangerous, what are your thoughts towards it?
