I've seen some reference to using goggles or machines to entrain the brain through visual stimulation.

My question is could staring at a computer monitor all day do the same thing?

Computer screens flicker at a very high frequency(I don't know exactly the #). You can't tell with the naked eye but if you ever see one through a video camera you can see the constant flicker.

Just curious if anyone else has ever thought of this or if it's nothing to worry about.

TV is even better... Televison advertising works rather well due to trance. Many viewers drop to that alpha / theta state while viewing TV.
