If someone could explain what consciousness is we might have something for the term super consciousness. However court is still out on what exactly consciousness is. Other than onevel level or stage of awareness.

Different groups will have different definitions for their categories of mental contexts, which is why there is no generally accepted norm. In many cases the terms are meaningful in a psychological, religious, or spiritual framework. Well-known terms like subconscious and unconscious can be vague depending on what they are being used for.

J. Donald Waters offers his version of Superconsiousness:

"We have all experienced our subconscious minds—in our sleep, dreams, and through our unconscious thoughts and emotions. And, of course, we’re all intimately familiar with the normal conscious state of awareness from which we go about our daily lives. But there is a third, less well-known state of awareness: the superconscious. The hidden mechanism at work behind intuition, spiritual and physical healing, successful problem solving, and finding deep, lasting joy, superconscious awareness is the missed link to living richer, more meaningful lives. Though many of us have experienced fleeting moments of raised consciousness and enlightenment, few know how to purposely enter such an exalted state. "

I don't like to be negative. So put this response down to my own frustration over the mental models and proliferation of vocabulary.

Super conscious, sub-conscious, unconscious, other-than-conscious, to me these are all terms that people tack onto mental processes that are not part of the conscious mental process or the conscious mind, if you prefer.

I've never seen anything to make me believe that all these terms don't refer to the same process or set of processes. What I think is that psychology needs a bunch of reverse engineering experts, and maybe we can get a good model for that black box that is the set of mental processes that are not our conscious mind. I say not our conscious mind and not "not part of our conscious mind", because there is obvious communication between the two. So are they really separate, or just one. Part of one we thing we understand and the other part we are barely aware of.

Could be function, if our conscious mental process were aware of all that "appears" to be happening in the other part?

Okay, even I can see I've started to ramble.

To AlexK, the defination of consciousness that I shall choose to use here; is that which is pericieved through sensory awarness such as sight, sound, touch, taist, and smell.

Then superconsciousness would be an awareness beyond all that. One that we have not yet got the skill to perceive even if we attempt to draw our attention to it.

You are not consciously aware of all your sensory activity. Wait, maybe I'm wrong and You are aware of it all. If so, could you share with us how you got there. I know that sounds a little mean, and I apologies. However, I did want to give you the benefit of the doubt.

I know from reading so many post on the PR forum that most have a difficulty just trying to become aware of everything in their visual field of view.

I know from my own experience, that trying to be aware of all of your tactile and muscular sensory input at one time is difficult. I haven't managed it yet.

I know that your (most peoples) minds shuts off the recognition of a sent if it is sensed at the same concentration for more than 45 seconds. Hence the sniffing action, to affect an increase of concentration on the ofactory glands.

Also while doing many things I automatically filter out distracting sounds, such as the wife of kids talking during a tv show.

So to be consciously aware of all the sensory input from all the sensory systems seems to be a little more than what is commonly considered consciousness. In fact, I could see a desire to label such a super state of consciousness as superconsciousness.

If you want to talk about an awareness outside of the set of senses you've labelled, one might consider it ultra-sensory consciousness or even ultraconsciousness.

I would suspect that someone trying to achieve a state of superconsciousness may percieve it as a state of ultraconsciousness. In fact, the process of trying to become superconscious may open a person to an ultraconscious state.

Sorry but I'm not trying to rub you the wrong way. Just some people through around definitions like grass seed, and many more take on prefixes without properly understanding how they actually modify a word's meaning.

So reading the original question. Shr33m has given an authoritative definition. However, if may be argued that if is not definitive. I suspect that when you are talking about models of the mind you will not find a definitive description of superconsciousness. The best you might hope for is a definition commonly understood within a given field.

Sorry, for the long rambling. I do like thinking about this topic. Again, I apologize for the negativity that may be percieved in this post.

You are perfection.

Yes, I did put the "I" concept in there, and find it difficult to stipulate consciousness without doing so. So yes a model example that hold a common ground is perhaps more benefitial to look for.
The reason that I am interested in this state of awarness is that messages come to me from whatever source I do not fully understand. I personally talked to a photoreading instructor about this phenomenon, and the experience of psychic phenomenon and went away with alot of answered questions. However there are certain bits and pieces of the conversation that I cannot fully recall; and that I have come to a point where I and interested and feel now that I can handle additional material. I have emailed the instructor on a couple of occasions with some simple questions, however there hasnt been a resonse like there have been from the other questions that I have asked.
I am uncertain about activating the development process in cultivating psychic abilities. To many things were happening to my mind from it so I closed off the experience and now rely more on the messages that come to me about a situation rather than direct forsight into the future.
This was probably more information than I believe you were asking for, but unsure of how to get my point accross any other way. Ordinarially I would be quite selective to share such happenings with anyone, but this is still distant. Thankyou for any additional comment

4everLearner, I don't have knowledge or experience in your situation. However, I think that this last post (if it is seem) will probably bring you more of the type of information you are looking for.

You might consider starting another thread with the above kind of information request, if you don't get any response in this thread.

I am always surprise by the extent and depth of the knowledge held by the participants of these forums.

Good luck.

4everlearner, it sounds like you are spontaneously "downloading multiple signal lines from the matrix." Developing attention management skills would be useful since you can tune into multidimensions. You can direct your mind to specific targets amd shield out the rest of the noise. PSI can be useful at times but needs to be under control.
