I do taxes during the season...it's been about 4 years now...but I still need to learn a LOT more. There are so many changes in the tax laws yearly....is there any techniques to better learn all the new laws and retain it?

I learned remembering the broad aspects of the legistations and knowing where to find the relevent updates was more useful than trying to remember the updates themselves but then I worked in government departments that wrote them and part of my job was to both read and file the updates that came in weekly.

Well, most tax software have all the upgraded info for the year - as long as you are registered, you can download the upgrades. Aren't you using a software to do the hard work for you? I am in US and I do itemized tax filing - I don't run into problems. Well, actually someone does it for me for free (since I help him with other stuff for free) and I just watch the numbers and get mad at the govt.
