Hi,
If I do the 5th step, the rapid or speed-
reading I do need as long as I read a book the normal way.
Does anybody know if that is the right way
to do it?

Personally, I have found that I can rapid read much more quikly after the photofocus step (with 24 hours of incubation).

Maybe try this: I rapid read using a soft gaze so that I am not staring at the line I am reading with tunnel vision. How do I do that? I just become aware of my peripheral vision and then read the words.

Also try getting into a relaxed state before you start reading. The conscious mind can be a sabateour of results. If you are relaxed then the internal critic will be silenced and you can get down to the business of comprehending the book.

Also if you are like me I hear the words read aloud in my head when I read. Try to limit this because that just slows down the process. Use your eyes for comprehension not an internal narrator.

Weight39Doug offers advice is sound.

One additional step I keep in mind it to rapid read the upper half of the characters as opposed to looking at the bottom half ... works well!

Also you might want to try reading the book above eye level. By looking up you adopt a more visual approach (according to NLP).

But the big thing is relaxation. I personally listen to an alpha brain wave CD when I listen. This puts me in the accelerated learning state and keeps me there. It virtually eliminates the internal critic so that you can exercise your true rapid reading potential.
