I was reading through old posts and I saw pete mentioning that he will replace Learning to Learn section with Natural brilliance. I do not know what any of this means because I havent ordered the course yet. I was wondering if this replacement has already occured since I have gotten the feeling from reading others that Natural brilliance is more effective. If it hasn't occured, when would it be replaced?

The PhotoReading Personal Learning Course still has the "Learning to Learn" book by Tinidad Hunt.

Is Natural Brilliance better than Learning to Learn? I can't say that at all. They are both different from each other; they compliment each other; they are both very, very good.

A beginning PhotoReader is best serve by both books. There is no doubt about it.

To tell the truth I liked the Natural brilliance way better than the Learning to Learn Book!

I second that. I found Natural Brilliance much more useful and informative than Hunt's book. It would be a great addition to the PR Homestudy course.

The only thing about the Learning to Learn book is that the print & images helped me get the hang of PhRing. It is visually easy to PhR for a beginner. This can be a valuable tool for motivation & self confidence when in the learning stages.

The content was not very interesting to me. But, even this, was kind of exciting at that time. I remember thinking, "Wow, i've PhR this book & i know i don't need to activate it!"

I love the NB book, but to have it in the PhRing package as the second book to read, would have done me in. Now now, but at that time of trying to maintain a blip page & keep my breath deep & steady & feel physically relaxed....well, the Hunt book was perfect.

Just my $.02!

That's an interesting point that I hadn't considered (the liberation of realizing you didn't need to activate the book). However, I would have enjoyed a book that I WANTED to activate. It would play into the course more effectively for me.

It wasn't until I had PR'd & activated a few books that I appreciated knowing that I didn't need to activate a book. I had then developed enough confidence in the process to trust that I could drop the book.

I struggled with Hunt's book because I had no desire to activate it at all. In that sense, I didn't really go through the whole process and that would have been more helpful at the time.

Has anyone ever used those cards that D. Trindad Hunt spoke of? The ones where you write your vision of the future on them and then sensualize them at every opportunity? I first read about this concept in Napoleon Hill's Think and Grow Rich published 1934 or so. It seems many other books recommend this "index card by the bathroom mirror" technique. I wonder how many people continually follow through with it though and what results you have seen? It seems like another one of those 'great ideas' (like win wenger's) that never really see the light of day in terms of follow-through.

Also, I made some totally new distinctions after photoreading Learning to Learn. The most important was: "The best way to live is to have the outlook that every experience is a learning experience." If you are constantly engaging all of your mental faculties at every moment in time, you will constantly exist in Mihali's flow channel. Thus, Flow 24/7!

Finally, does she put the "D" before her name so people will subconsciously associate the properties of a "D"octor with her name? always wondered that...

The "D" stands for "Dorothy." When we chatted about it in October she said she uses it out of respect for family. She commented further, but I'm not remembering it now. She is a very neat lady, and I've enjoyed all of the time I've spent with her. The passion she has for her students' goals and dreams is inspiring and admirable.

Cool. I got that impression--about her intense passion. You know what? I think I'm going to try her index card visualization technique.

It reminds me of a concept Alan Watts once described in his latter years. He suggested that it might be more advantageous to view time as flowing FROM the FUTURE and into the present.

From this perspective, we can pretend that our ideal future has already happened--it's already been written somewhere. He have but to Flow into it. This is a great view, because it takes a lot of emphasis off of the reasoning mind--having to ponder and weigh the right decisions. Instead, the Intuition lights up and takes over.

When I was dabbling in Taoism, I used to constantly ask myself the question, "what is the next right thing (to do)?" Though I always came up with a good answer...my reasoning faculty supplied it. Apparently, it's a hundred times better if this question is implanted in the brain to run on automatic without conscious knowledge.

Sort of reminds of the Michaelango statue thing where the statue is there inside the marble, all ye need do is chip away the outside pieces and voila.

ACTUALLY, I could further relate this to the fibonacci loops you were describing in Automatic Pilot. Paul Scheele seem to have us carve out the future in the same sense. Almost creating the future from the present. Then just effortlessly flowing into it--no reason, just flow.

The visualization cards, the Alan Watts method, Michaelango, the Fibonacci loops... all the same concept? hmmm.

Connections everywhere!

peace and light,
brian

Regarding time flowing from the future to the present: adopt the perspective and goal attainment becomes much easier.

Follow me...

I'm building a new earth sheltered home next summer (http://www.earthshelteredtech.com/contact.htm).

I created the future reality, fully imagining the house when I'm living it. Then I looked backwards from there to see what I was doing a month before moving in, two months, three months, four months, etc. I mapped that out so I know what I will be doing during those times, and everything is in my calendar.

All I have to do is get out of the way and let the future come. But, at any time the future can change, if I don't keep my eye on it. There are many choice points along the way that can change the future.

My calendar says that final blueprints will be finished in January. I just received plans this week that were made from my initial drawings. I know that I must spend a few hours today tweaking the plans, otherwise the January blueprints will not be of my ideal home--the future changes, and my home changes.

Last night before the Timberwolves basketball game, three friends and I stopped at the new location of a liquor store in Edina to check it out. In the rare wine cellar, they had an unusual cork floor.

I had considered cork floors for the master bedroom section of the house, but did not like the floors I saw. Last night I saw my home with those floors, and everything between completion and now changed.

I saw myself on the telephone with the contractor next week to find the source for the floor. So, guess what? I came home and emailed a note to myself at the office about the call.

Once I first imagined the house, it became a foregone conclusion. It is not what I have to do to reach that goal, but doing what I have done having reached the goal. It is considerably less stressful and everything proceeds with more confidence.

But remember, the future can change at any time. Or, put another way, the future can flow right toward me, but I miss it.

To finance the house, I had planned, in part, to sell a particular stock at the end of December. Unfortunately, the stock's price has dropped, and I won't be selling. So, I imagined the money in hand and looked back at what I had to do to receive it. Guess what, I will have the money, but not from selling the stock.

It is not a perfect science (or at least I haven't found the perfect science in it). There is constant jockeying around as other people's futures collide with mine, but it is a lot easier to find a path through the forest when I know their is a pot of gold some where on the other side with my name on it.
