Forums IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ PhotoReading, Memory Optimizer Study Tips for tonight???

I would love to hear some recommendations on how to tackle my chapters 1-4 of my Business textbook. My plan tentatively is this:
1) go to the gym
2) eat
3) briefly relax/Tv
4) preview text
5) photoread text
break
6) activate/super read
7) photoread again?
8) do the same thing with another text or two?

Any advice????

I would PhR the material the night b/f or in the morning. Give more time for incubation. You might even PhR the material a few times a week or so in advance.

Then, when you sit to activate, you can state what you are going for. If you find it quickly, then go w/ the flow. If not, then PhR it to refresh yourself.

Use MMing & doing it in layers or passes. Get an overall idea what the chapters are about. Go back into alpha, visualize to yourself an understanding. Ask yourself what else you want to gleen from the material. Ask yourself what else is needed to .....

definitely drink a lot of water

do some cross crawling or hookups

do it in layers of not more than 30 minutes

All of that stuff in the book/course is for real.

I have let books sit for months after PhRing them, and i still get good activation. You can really PhR everything for your courses way ahead of time. But, i never just PhR once & i always also PhR the book backwards.

Use the Memory Supercharger tape. Whenever i get serious w/ PhRing, i always use this tape prior to PhRing or at night for a few days.

Right now, all I've got is the book, so I'm not familiar with 'cross-crawling' or hook ups.
For mind mapping, i'm wondering, this text gives a full break down of the financial services industry, intermediaries, financing, understanding financial statements and includes many formulas. How would I organize all this on a MM?
I'll do some photoreading tonite of the text for now I guess, rest a bit (no time to read in the mornings) and super read? Postview? I need to know a ton of detail, not just the little things my mind's intuition says! In other words, I feel like I should essentially read the whole text! That's what bugs me a bit. Then the comprehension and memorization of the formulas...hmm.
For now, I'll just photoread and relax, but I need some further insight into the above mentioned areas!

cross-crawling: touch your left knee w/ your right hand as you lift your left leg. Then lift your right leg (bend at the knee) & touch it w/ your left hand. You are making an X for crossing the midline. This will pattern your brain for whole brain work. Skip doing it. Do it touching the heels: left w/ right hand & right w/ left hand. A little exercise & brain stimulation= very beneficial for studying. Trace a butterfly in the ceiling w/ your eyes. Start w/ the right wing & go clockwise & then counter clockwise w/ the left wing. Again it's a X.

Take FINANCIAL SERVICES INDUSTRY as the center of 1 mm. What are the main things you need to know about this industry. Each major thing has a branch.

Here are your BASIC ORDERING OF IDEAS to follow:
why, what, where, who, how, which, when
specific objects
most important categories
first 10 words or images that come to mind
themes, lessons, chapters
characteristics of things
what things do
how things work

Then do a MM for INTERMEDIARIES & apply the basic ordering of ideas questions

Do a MM for each of the things you listed. You'll have at least 4 large MMs. BUT, it'll all be there in front of you. Put'em on the wall or your door.

After you look at them for awhile, you'll begin to see all kinds of connections. By the time you are ready for your test, you may only have 1 or 2 MMs of ALL that material. Use colors to connect stuff. Maybe you will notice something on MM 1 that connects on MM 3. Use blue to visually connect them for your quickly.

Review is very fast & easy this way.

Margaret, thanks for taking the time for such a thorough reply. I can say this much at present.. it seems that (as a beginner) I already feel my 'overall' super reading, conventional rapid reading, skimming, reading the parts I feel are more important than others..is going FASTER and smoother. It seems to be helping most in "my concentration." I've ALWAYS had a HUGE tendency to have my mind wander when reading dry texts, but currently, since my understanding seems greater (so Far) my interest and concentration seems improved.

All told, I'm not at 25,000 words a minute with 80% comprehension, but I feel I'm gaining ground in baby steps.

Diligence will pay off I trust!
