I got the PR Personal Learning Course about a month ago, and when I started following it (got through the first 2 tapes) I found that I was having great difficulty focussing on the material; misinterpreting basic instructions, etc. I decided the time wasn't right so I put it down for a few weeks and am starting again.
I just tried the dictionary PR test (I skipped it the first time through because I wanted to use my initial enthusiasm to take me through any difficult material), and scored horribly! What is striking to me is that not only did I do a lousy job of guessing where the word might be, but in about half the cases I thought of a word that was not in the dictionary. Not sophisticated words mind you... just words like eggplant, crown, alligator, etc. It has occurred to me that my subconscious is actually avoiding words in the dictionary because of some latent anxiety I must have regarding PR.
I have a strong intuition about this method and it's value to me, and I'm sure I will work through this eventually, but I'm wondering if somebody with experience can offer suggestions to help deal with this anxiety that I'm only half aware of. This has been a humbling experience for me.. I am experienced in mind-body coordination, meditation, and control of consciousness (perhaps too experienced) so I was sure I could do this right off the bat.

Thanks

hey,
1 thing 2 remember about the dictionary game is that its only a GAME. when u play games u can win or lose & u always get better in time.
as 4 ur anxiety. let go of all the anxieties u encounter during the proccess of learning & doing photoreading. ur strong belief is good but b ready 2 fail alil at first. willing 2 do this perfectly at first will bring u no good. as a good hint ill offer u this: while u r learning the system do this: maintain relaxed about anything u do & let go about any annoyments u encounter during the proccess (ie. strange behavior of pages or bad reading habits u had) & dont try 2 do it right. just DO it. follow the course with these in mind & ull succeed 4 sure.

hope i helped ya

Try this: When you ask your inner mind for a word, ask for one of the words from the dictionary you are PhotoReading.

See how that works for you.

I had the same trouble when I first tried the game - it was very discouraging at first - however, something very fascinating occurred to me when I was picking out the words - I was visualizing where the word would be on the page(and in my mental picture there was a big bold Bubble letter B - representing the start of the letter B on the page in my mental image) but the word was not there. Then it hit me, my mental image was not from the dictionary that came with the program! I went to my shelf and pulled the dictionary and opened to the page that I had imagined in my mental picture - thus, I had recalled the word from a different dictionary.
I had not photoread the other dictionary - however, in imagining the page I was using my subconcious mind which gaave me the aanswer (just not the one I was looking for - laugh). So, do not be discourage if you pick words that are not in the dictionary you photoread, you are likely pulling from any of the dozens of dictionaries you haave looked up words in during your lifetime...

Don't be discoraged.....Like Tony Robbin says, take your feelings as action signals to change your state, don't immerse yourself in negative emotions. If you feel frustrated, change your expectations. If you feel inadequate, it means you haven't done it enough..keep at it. If you feel overwhelmed, isolate and prioritize. Its EASY as 1 2 3 and A B C The worst way to approach anything is to have negative preconceptions. Just like riding a bike. In general, kids pick up the skill faster than adults because they are young an "new" to life and don't have any preconcieved ideas.

Just a note there are quite a few words that are not in the Dictionary that comes with the photoreading course.
