Forums IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ PhotoReading, Memory Optimizer speed to photo reading

Hello all,

I just discovered this page a day ago and have been reading through past posts and I would like to get some input from you...First my "reading" background: I've always been a fast reader but never really was aware of any "speed reading" and other techniques (I'm originally from Austria and therefore not familiar with infomercials )
I did, however, buy 4 speed reading books (yes, even the infamous "Evelyn Wood" one) a few years back when I got interested in pushing the envelope (I think it was an infomercial about Howard Berg..)only to discover that I couldn't increase my reading speed because I already have my own style that works quite well -- I essentially read in hops straight down the page or use a sort of a pattern 8 (own its side) for wider pages. And I just can't bring myself to using those hand techniques -- they just cover up the words.
Now I've never really measured my speed but I guess it is about 500 wpm (for technical books) to about 3000 wpm max.
(BTW - I don't consider my way of reading to be exhausting)

Here are my questions (Pete?)

--if you already read quite fast, can you expect the same kind of improvement as somebody who reads by sounding out the words? Meaning: should I be able to read at 9000 wpm after I'm done with the program whereas the other guy manages 400wpm? Any speed readers that have gone through the program?

--do you get any pleasure out of reading now that you use PR? I still like reading for pleasure...and sometimes you have to slow down to savor a good book...the way you all sound you are now eating icecream cones in less than 3 seconds and you watch movies (if at all) in fastforward..just kidding, of course. But seriously -- is it still for fun for you to read? Do you sometimes switch between regular reading and PR?

Let me try to explain....imagine a page in a book: take a ruler and go inward about an inch from both the left and the right margins and then draw a line in both locations (parallel to the margin)...instead of the lines I'm going to use a sequence of numbers starting with "1" one the left line, "2" on the right line then jumping down a few lines and starting with "3" on the left and so on...like this:

11 12

13 14

15 16

17 18

19 20

My eyes will move down the page as follows: from 1 to 10 on the right, then up to 6, then crossing over to the left to 13, up to 9, down to 18, up to 14...getting the idea?

Usually I'll cover a page in a paperback in about 3-4 such sequences. I have no idea if it is efficient or if anybody else reads like that but I don't really care -- it works for me...

Innsbruck....and no, I haven't used PR yet. I just saw the infomercial a few weeks back while on a trip and did a search on the subject 2 days ago...I had no idea that there was a program teaching you to read that way...but it surely sounds interesting. BTW -- I'm using English here because most everybody else does...maybe I'll shoot of an e-mail if you'd prefer to use German (are you in Austria? -- I'm assuming you are since you are using Umlaute...)

So -- no speed readers have taken up PR?
Does the ability to speed read lead to any advantages for PR? Or just for what you call "super rading"?

Actually, when you PhotoRead and activate, you are using "speed-reading" types of techniques....in reverse.

Instead of pushing your eyes faster across the page, trying to cram 7 chunks of information into your brain through your conscious mind, hoping something sticks, with PhotoReading you learn to absorb all the printed text into your brain at a page per second. Then, building comprehension from "whole-to-parts" you trigger information out in layers by connecting with the printed text visually with SuperReading & Dipping.

And, its the Mind Probing questions and your purpose/outcome statement which cause your inner mind and intuition to guide you to dip into dozens of parts of your book, answering those questions.
