Forums IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ PhotoReading, Memory Optimizer PR and bedtime stories

Anyone with small children may find this interesting, I have been applying a couple of photoreading skills to reading my 3 year old son his bedtime stories. All I do is take a few seconds before I start to read to remind myself of my purpose in reading this story. Inside my head I say "my purpose in reading this story 'The Cat in the Hat' is to share some of my time and my love with my son and to expose him to written material in a fun and exciting way". I also use the tangerine technique. What I have found is that my mind seems to stay several words ahead of the words I speak aloud. I read with alot more feeling and expression, my son really seems to appreciate this, he gets alot more involved and excited, pointing and jabbering and smiling. The improvement makes me very happy.

Thats fantastic! Bedtime story telling is definately an art which takes practice. Your son's repsonse's to you is definately an indication you are doing it well!

I too have also adopted PR skills when reading to my children ... yep, I Photoflip and rapid read and this usually take me no more than 45 seconds and story telling is done! After learning PR - who would ever think that bedtime story telling would be an arduous task!

For those of us who are new at PR, would someone please post the steps for photo flipping? This topic does not seem to be covered either in the book, or the home stujdy course. Under what circumstances do you use it instead of PR? Thanks.
