I have been trying to use PR for about a month now..and I'm having trouble activating. After the photoreading step, when I activate, I feel like I'm just skimming through the material. Also, when I rapidread, it's hard for me to comprehend what I'm reading or I feel like I'm skimming. Any help or suggestions?

The best way to master the basics and integrate the PhotoReading system is to work the 5 steps on 3-5 books you have not read yet.

But first, a couple questions on how you are PhotoReading so far.

Go to page 68 in your little PhotoReading book.

Look at the mindmap on page 68. Then, look at all the activation techniques as they are arranged on the branches.

How many Mind Probing questions are you crafting before SuperReading and Dipping?

How many 30-minute activation sessions are you spending on your book?

Are you adding a set of branches to your mind map after each activation pass?

Thank you for your help, Dana. Based on what you said, I realized that I don't do enough mind probing and I don't spent enough time on super reading and dipping. As a result, when I super read, I feel like skimming. And also, because I don't spent enough time activating, I feel like I have nothing to put on my mind map....

Well I still have some questions though. When super reading, if you're supposed to go down the page, how will you know what part you need to "pay attention to"? In other words, how do you know when to dip? I've heard that you need to trust your instinct, but I still don't get it...

You'll get alot more out of SuperReading & Dipping when you have crafted several Mind Probing questions first, with the trigger words and phrases you wrote down during your 8-minute Preview. You'll find yourself being attracted to certain parts of certain pages. This is where you "Dip" in left-to-right across the top half of the words to consciously comprehend what the paragraph says, and how it relates to any of your Mind Probing questions.

Find 3-5 books you haven't read yet and work the whole system on each one. That's the best way to integrate the PhotoReading whole mind system and master the basics.

Let us know how it's working for you.

When you suppperread through the book, would your mind trigger only when you've come across something that is related to your mind probing questions or trigger words?

In general, your inner mind will immediately go to work at bringing your conscious awareness to any material in the book which begins satisfying your need and interest for what is inside the book.

Crafting Mind Probing questions helps you build the structure alot quicker. Therefore, you will actively build more connections between your conscious and other-than-conscious mind during each activation pass.

The amount of time you should spend activating really depends on how much of your book you wish to comprehend fully. The awesome part is, you'll get there 3-5 times faster with the PhotoReading process.

Thank you Dana. I'll definitely try to mind-probe before activation sessions. I think because I don't have enough time to go through a whole book, I haven't really integrated the whole system yet. I was trying to use the system with textbook reading assignments I got each night... and it didn't quite work out...

Now, if I have a textbook full of important information that I need to know, how much time would I spend on average activating? (about...a 1000 page text book) And...if I have let's say 20 pages of a history textbook to read, approximately how much time am I supposed to be taking? (for activation I mean)

You have to take all the time necessary until you "get" it, don't you?

Here's something I told someone else recently. It's worth repeating here.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I try to change my purpose all the time and make it something specifically that I want from a book. Make it personal. It's kinda hard. Anything you come up with HAS to be right because this is YOU and this book we're dealing with and nothing else.
You mind probe to ask yourself what YOU want to know so when you look down the page you're drawn to answers. On a really cool book like Accelerated Learning you may want to rapid read it but on other books the other steps may be enough. In the end you'll understand what's important to you and either have the urge to rapid read it or NOT rapid read it. Most books aren't worth reading and PR will help you sift thru these types of books.
Your text book has to be studied, no way to avoid it. I'd run thru the steps and add study reading and MM's to burn it into memory.
Think of dipping as something you've done your whole life but now you're just calling it something. Ever pick up a magazine in the dentists office and just read the things that interested you? You didn't start a 12 page article because you knew you weren't going to be able to finish it so you just flipped and dipped thru the whole thing looking for whatever interested you. It's the same thing but now you have a purpose guiding you and mind probe questions to help too. When I read to 'see what's in the book' I sometimes preview and see that I'm not really interested in the book. If I am then I ask, "What would I do with the knowledge in this book after I read it?" Then do the steps normally. I only Mind Map what I'm really interested in remembering.
If your purpose isn't specific then you just have to read more. It's like this... if you have to go to the store for batteries and nothing else you can go and be done with it in no time at all. But if your just bored and want to go to the store to wander around and kill time and maybe buy something, you'll spend more time and maybe see something you didn't know you wanted. "I'll know when I see it" phenomena. Me photoreading the "Einstein Factor" book was like me running thru a store I was interested in and buying what I needed and running out- I felt like I missed something, I wanted both more detail and enjoyment so I rapid read it. When I photoread Diet books in the bookstore to just get the MAIN POINTS because I really don't care, I just want to know basically what they're saying- then that's like me running into a hardware store (they bore me to death) getting only what I need and running out. Time is saved in one area so it can be spent in another. In the end you end up reading more - BOTH of what you want and don't want (but have) to read. The whole "PHOTOREAD THEN ACTIVATE TO BUILD NEURO CONNECTIONS" is probably something that takes some time to build so I wouldn't worry about it too much.
Be sure to get yourself really tense and be hard on yourself for not being perfect, and you'll do fine. Or is it....
