Hi!

Unlike other people having problems getting into focus and stuff, my problem is rather silly!

I can't find a good way to hold the book and flip the pages. Since most of my books are paperback, they like to close themselves when you flip the pages. This makes it impossible to maintain a 90 degree angle and an erect spine.

Does anyone have any tips?

Small paperbacks suck. For them I just hold them up to my face and flip with my left thumb then hold the book open for a millisecond. Arms get tired but hey, that's just one more thing to take my conscious mind off the words.

I remember my librarian telling me how to 'prep' new paperback books ... many moons ago.

Open the book every 15 -20 pages and slide the palm of your hand up and down the middle of the book. This helps to loosen the glue of the spine of the book.

You could alternatively, fan the book.

If all else fails, lend the book out to a friend or family member to read so they can break it in for you!
