During the last summer I regular read the PhotoReading book and started trying to learn it. After several weeks of attempting and talking here, I gave up.

But, now I have started again, and I believe I may be having results. I think I just had a misunderstanding of some elements of the process.

Now, I have PhotoRead the Photoreading book (though I can't know if I was successful since I had already read it before).

I tried to PR a couple chapters in my history book, but I am a little confused about some things that happened while reading.

1) If I just want to know the text instead of searching for specific information (as in a reading assignment for school) how do I PR it? When I first tried to PR those chapters in the history book, I basically was reading everything. A few days later, I tried again. I read the whole chapter within a matter of 30 minutes (usually taking me 2 hours...I am a slow reader). I just felt a little guilty/vague because I skipped big chunks of text. Is this correct? To do multiple, brisk sessions separated by mind probing?

2) I found that I read the first chapter alright. After I had begun the second, I noticed my visual field seemed dimmer (I have no clue why) and sharper (these two things focused my sight on the book), yet my ability to concentrate and to comprehend the words fell dramatically. My eyes were just blurring across the lines of text (the letter symbols themselves were in sharp focus, but my attention was not), and the time spent was worse than regular reading. I even took a break, came back, and found that I was still in a daze when I tried to read again.

Would someone be so helpful as to answer these questions?

Try going over the material several times depending on how long it is. If it is short reading consider going over it in 10 minute step. Do that about 5 or 6 times and see if that helps. Just pretend your comprehension is an onion you have to go layer by layer to get to the core. And don't give up. Oh and if you are having trouble with sub-vocalization try counting from 1 to 10 in your head while you read it will speed regular reading by 2 or 3 times. Hope that helps.
