If I basically want to MASTER (not simple awareness) the contents of a 700 page Technical Certification book, how much time should I spend in activation? Again, there are no unimportant parts ( the mind map of the learning system tells us during the superreading step to pass by what we don't need). All are essential.

How much time in superreading(by the way, all of the contents are important)? In dipping? in MindMapping?
I don't mind spending alot of time, for the book's contents are important to me.

I can't answer you question, but I'd curious to know how long you'd think it would take you to MASTER that material using you normal reading style.

I just went and checked. A 250 page book that I "mastered" over ten years ago took me about 8 x 7 hours = 56 hours to master. Now, my mastering has improved with more use over the following 10 years. But about 90% of what I know now about the material I had after 8 days.

------

Sorry, but when I see all the questions of how-long, and fully-activate, and spontaneously-activate. I have to ask how does it compare to what I do now.

Try this. What is in your conscious mind right now..... Take a second and check.

Was the name of the first president of the united states there? Is it now? How did it get there? Where was the information before?

Just something to chew on.

You superread and dip repeatedly... then if you want to be sure you missed nothing rapid read. By super reading and dipping a chapter a number of times you actually expose your mind to it more often... with each pass you add to what you need to know. When you cannot form anymore questions and you want to be sure you missed nothing rapid read. When superreading your mind really only skips words ...like... is.. to.. and... a... it knows what they mean... it looks for new "information clusters" and knows where they are and what they are because you already PRed the book... The idea is to trust your mind a bit more.

The factor of time isn't as important as the knowledge you want from the book.

I think it was posted elsewhere on the forum by Dana... and going from memory it was something like this.

The average 800 page text book takes the average student roughly 30 hours to fully comprehend via regular reading.

Using the PR System the average student can reduce this to 1/3 or less. I.E. 10 hours or less.

Factors to consider as Iam2 said...how long would it take 'you' using the regular method...

The answer would be; it should only take 1/3 that time or less. And often the comprehension is even better too.

The reason we can't give a specific number or say it would take you x number of hours is because each person is different.

I explained the process of superreading, dipping and mindmaping here. http://www.learningstrategies.com/forum/ubb/Forum8/HTML/002082.html

Basicly you work in 30 minute session. Doing 1 - 3 or more sessions for each section of the book until it 'gels How long you take for mind mapping is up to you it remains a good habit to set time limits and stick to them.
