Yesterday I was at the public library and I needed to look up the meaning of a word so I grabbed the Microsoft Encarta College Dictionary, a huge 1684 page monster.

After I looked the word up, I thought to myself, hey, this dictionary is very comprehensive. And I want to increase my vocabulary. Why don't I PR it while I'm here?

A quick 5 minute preview, estimate of the PR time (1684 pages = 1684 seconds, just under 29 minutes), a quick countdown into the relaxed state, and I was off.

Man did I have fun. The printing/layout patterns danced across the page in blip form, and the steady page turning made a calming sound in a quiet, well lit room; it was really beautiful and peaceful.

Did a 5 minute postview and the entire dictionary lit up in front of me. Amazingly well written...and that was it! I was done! So far that has been the largest book I've PRed.

I know the dictionary is 'on call' in my creative brain now and appropriate vocabulary will bubble up from my subconscious when needed. My intended purpose wasn't to memorize the whole thing. That's not necessary.

Dictionaries are alphabetical so activation and mindmapping would be pointless; I'll go back periodically and RR the book in 100 page sections and activate with vocabulary freeware I found online like the Magus vocabulary builder at my leisure. I'll also look up and activate latin root words, latin prefixes, and latin suffixes as this is the base of the English language. This makes vocabulary building more like a game and less like a chore for me.

I'm playing with the PR system and having a blast, not expecting success or failure simply enjoying the process. I still can't believe I'm doing this! PhotoReading is fun hehe

My dream is to PR and activate a full encyclopedia set along with a comprehensive dictionary of difficult words (they have obscure and complex language not normally used in conversation and are real brainbusters) just for fun...my own personal Everest. I'll reach that peak sometime this year lol

allright ppl give me feedback
*plugs in, plays some GNR*

What exactly do you mean?

Sounds great, what you are doing with PR. I am more or less doing the same.

What purpose DID you set for yourself (if it's not a secret, of course)?

My purpose was to build my vocabulary, which is something I've wanted to do for a few months.
