I figured that most photoreaders here had prior speedreading knowledge. What is a good speedreading homestudy course to get? I find that regular reading during the activation phase are slowing me down.

Figure this:
200 wpms(before)+ photoreading(suppose to gain 3 times faster) = 600 wpms

8000 wpms (with speed reading techniques) + photoreading = 24000 wpms


Guess its better if you know how to speedread first.

your speed will increase as you improve witht the system, it isnt a fixed rate.

Yes, photoreading does improve your overall reading speed. Speed reading courses are difficult in that most people try to maintain a high speed for all reading material. It is a matter of remaining flexible.

Check out ebay or amazon,however having learnt the Mega Speed reading course I actually found my overall speed deteriorated after the course. It was just too much work to practice every day. Since having learnt to photoread I surpassed my former speed by miles.

"Triple Your Reading Speed" by Wade E. Cutler is the best I've seen. He discourages using your hand but the Mega Speedreading drills are easy to do too and do work if you keep it up. A 5 minute warm up drill in the morning lasts all day. All the speedreading books all say the same thing, more or less. If you just practice reading faster you'll get faster and invent your own way.
