I was going trough old posts related with laguage and I found some answers to my questions but would still like to see some more opinion on some topics. Now, English isn't my native language but the college material I work with is mostly in English. I wonder how skilled must one be in a language to use PR efficiently. I have no problems reading English with normal reading pace. Sure, I come over words that I don't know but if I can't guess its meaning from the sentence, I don't bother looking it up in a dictionary unless I find it crucial to understanding. If I'm getting the principles of PR right, the inner mind's capability to absorb information when photoreading isn't related to the language. It absorbs info with the same ease whether it's in your native language or not. You recall information with activation anyway. So does it simply take a few more passes with superR/dipping, possibly rapidR to achieve the understanding one desires? I think I lack that felling of familiarity when I activate. Several passes trough the material increase familiarity, but isn't it the same without actual PR step?

My experience with this is yes. I find that my comprehension of text in a second language is greatly improved using the Photoreading steps. It does require some more activation passes for me to understand better. Considering it would take me some 13 hours to regular read a 200 page book and have about 20% comprehension (this would mean I would have to reread the book again anyway to improve my comprehension/understanding of the topic by regular reading).

When I photoread the book I used more activation passes than I would have used on the same text where it in the English language. However my comprehension was at 70% after approximately 3 hours of activation.

Seeing if I had to make 2 passes with regular reading (probably spending 26 hours on the book ) And managed to gain 70% comprehsension with 6 activation passes. To me the Photoreading step simplifies learning in another language.
