after listening to Belief after waking up, i experienced auditory hallucinations for half an hour after wards. is that normal or what?

Well, it might have been the booze talking (literally), but you might have experienced waking hypnogogic sensations after waking, which could happen. I heard one story where this guy kept dreaming after he woke up - he dreamt about little people who lived in the earth, and then he woke up and in every dark space he saw these little people for, like, the next three hours. =) I'm not sure if the paraliminals played any role in perpetuating this, though.

Read Julian Jaynes' book "the origin of concsiousness in the breakdown of the bicameral mind" and formulate your own conclusion.

The first thing to consider regarding "auditory hallucinations"—whatever specifically you mean by that—is...did you LIKE it? If you did, cool. Go for it again.

If on the other hand you would rather not have it, you can do two things. 1) Before listening to the tape, tell yourself what you want to experience, including the benefits you will receive. 2) As the recording finishes, and before you open your eyes, tell yourself the desired mental/physical state you choose to experience, i.e., mentally alert and physically relaxed.

Consider that in certain altered states, we tend to disassociate from our own internal dialog, so that our inner voice sounds like we are not generating it ourselves.
