Forums IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ PhotoReading, Memory Optimizer Tony Buzan Speed Reading

Has anybody read Tony Buzan's book on Speed Reading? Is it similar to most speed reading courses where you are drilled to read faster or does it complement Photoreading? His mind mapping makes a lot of sense and I know Paul scheele agrees with his work.

Yes I have, the entire book is speed reading drills you time yourself on each article. Not in any way related to photoreading.

Speed reading is not required for photoreading. You read at your natural speed. After a while of using the photoreading system your reading speed does increase and it was a lot easier than my experience with Tony Buzans book.

Another Quick Question,

Regarding speed reading, People have invested alot in this field, (I agree photo reading is much better) However Im looking into buying speed reading books, not to speed read but to pick up tips that can complement photoreading such as super reading, dipping and skittering or syncopic reading.

Would it be worth the time to investigate and of these techniques further??? I thought the tapes were great in photo reading but I felt they were a bit lacking in the department of Skittering and Syncopic reading, Are these valuable skills that we could with photoreading that were missing out on????

Skittering and Syntopic reading are not covered in any other courses I know of. I recommend checking the updated PhotoReading book (4th edition) and the more recent PhotoReading course (not the tape version) for more on Skittering.

Syntopic reading has an entire chapter in the PhotoReading book.

As for reading up other books on reading and speed reading. I prefer the topic of reading comprehension as they offer better reading tips than most speed reading books which are drills.
