I was just wondering...I think in words--not seeing words, but hearing them, and occasionally I think visually. How about you guys?

My thinking varies by what I'm doing. As I write this, I am hearing the words. When I am thinking about engine designs, I see an image of the engine, and simply manipulate the image. Much of the time, when I am not doing anything specifically, I think in feelings, kinda like being guided by just pure intuition, not really hearing words or visualizing. Sometimes I think that way the majority of the time, and I often have difficulty transforming my 'feeling thoughts' into words to communicate. It's really hard to describe. Does anyone else think like this?

I think in a combination of words and pictures. More so in words, but it deprnds on the subject.

Image and words. Thoughts go in math also...#s... if you really sit down and think. Concentration is difficult for me all the time because I usually hear things during PRing, first distracting thoughts, then relevant phrases to the book. Trying writing on images and not using subvocalization to guide your fingers...

ps - also try DVORAK keys eyes closed! :P
softgaze and eat up the layout in pdf. Then ask your inner mind to guide you to type phrases. That's my "dictionary game".

Mostly images, and the few times I think in words, it's usually right before I'm about to describe a thought, or to organize/recognize the concepts I see. Words, and images, but mostly images. -youngprer

Ooooh, I'm so jealous! Images are like 2000 times faster, according to Ron Davis--but I think in words  Hopefully Imagestreaming will change that... youngprer, please describe more in detail how you think in pictures--I only do it when designing something physical like a house or whatever, like AnOtherNOOb. Chang, when you think in #'s, do you see the number of objects, or hear it? [Sorry, but those trolls screwed this up for us--flood control, this sucks! Sheesh!  ] EDIT:

It depends on what I'm thinking about, but about 90% of the time, when either talking to people, doing math, hearing a story, and pretty much solving any problem, it usually happens by me seeing shapes within certain feelings/places/object/people, and then somehow these shapes usually link up to solve whatever it is I'm think about. I'll usually end up seeing them spin, travel, and flip, most of the time falling directly into place effortlessly. Stalker! LOL Mind is cool if you just listen to it. I have a movie running in my head all the time. I'm always imagining things. It is REALLY hard to describe thoughts. It just is... #s... I see graphs, #s, equations...
same w/ reading w/o subvocal. do math that way. image is faster yes. but... you seek photographic memory or imagestreaming? :P I get little bits of both. [TROLLS, bah. Elf mystic right here] Chang

Sure. Had the same "problem". And IS do/done it for me. It is phantastic, this morning i saw a book in the mind with brilliant clear letters. Wow, for me an extraordinary experience. What me also helped, was the "clue" (attitude) of youngerpr, that sleeping/daydreaming is NOT a vaste of time. (Ty youngerpr, for the sentence: Sleeping 13 hours is phantastic ;-)) Your question: How do YOU think?
My process at the moment:
- Words and a pencil (for drawing concepts)
- (New additional process). Pictures with emotions and for structuring using words/questions. (=Internal laboratory) Schummel
