I first got the photoreading whole mind system a few days ago, and already I'm finished with tape four. I had had dismal results with the dictionary test first time around, and thought this would be a good opportunity to test my skill. Very much prepped, I blasted into tape 1b again and did the dictionary test...with even worse results.

I understand that dejectedness I feel right now is counterproductive, but I can't help it. When I do the dictionary test, I probe my mind and keep myself open, but when I ask for the location of the word, I see nothing but two empty pages in my minds eye. Or if I see something, my mind is completely led away. Is there something wrong with the way I'm doing the test? Or do I just need to keep going at it?

Do it backwards, if you want. Open the dictionary at random (After PhotoReading it), go to a place at random, and choose the word. Do this four five words, and then post here on how those five words relate.

How they relate - Well, as far as I can tell, they all involve someone doing unto or interacting with another person. For instance, appellation is a name or delegation given unto someone. HIV can be spread unto others. A cosigner puts their name with someone else's on a promisory note. Beastly means, literally, abominable or disagreeable. But something cannot be abominable or disagreeable in its own right; it needs someone to be abhorred or disagreed upon by SOMETHING, and issue can mean to give out or distribute, like issuing a memorandum to someone.

This, of course, may be a stretch, but it's all I could think of, given the words.

Well, you're failure at the original dictionary game was a beastly issue, at least one that caused enough fustration to have you post.

You're wondering if perhaps you have a deficiency, and wish someone would aid you in your progress.

Perhaps if someone can aid you in the learning process, much as a cosigner aids one in the loaning process, you can abandon the apellation of having failed somehow.

The most common pattern I've seen regarding the dictionary game, at least as posted on the forums, is that the person starts off with great success, and then the inner mind says, "Go away, this is boring, stop stressing me out," and refuses to play. That's one of the reasons Paul Scheele warns on the tapes not to play the game unless you are willing to see it as a game, not as a "test."

If it is a test, it's like a pre-test. The kind of test the teacher gives at the beginning of the year saying, "I'm testing you all so that I know what it is I'll be teaching, and in how much depth." The dictionary is one of those books that is so well organized you can benifit from it amazingly without ever having to make a mind-map of it, as long as you remember alphabetical order. Don't worry of spontanious activation of the dictionary doesn't ever happen.
