I find that when I read for profit, my list of trigger words grows to almost two pages!!! (for a 200 page book, is that normal?). I've tried to break it down to chapters by chapter reading, but find the conventional reading method more effective in this case...

2. When I mindmap, I find I need to insert all of the trigger words into it, which makes it almost impossible to comprehend logically....

3. For the last step - rapid reading, does it mean dipping and skittering because I find I cannot do that for this purpose (profit reading) and have to resort to conventional reading which takes a long time.....seems a waste to go through the PR steps initially....

Well I haven't PRed for profit, so my comments are speculation.

I'm assuming that the system works just fine for you when you are reading for your own interest.

I suspect that you are putting unnecessary pressure on yourself when you PR for profit. Much like students trying to learn and use the system for an exame.

I suspect that the common problem is poor purpose. Your motivation for extracting the information is not desire driven. To you, it's just something that has to be done to make money. The trick is to make is something you actually want. Consider what you would be like if you possessed the information in the reading. How would it change your life? What would you do differently? What benefits would materialize for you?

Oh, I'm also assuming you're not a proof reader.

Limit your time in previewing and postviewing to about 10 minutes for a book. You'll collect enough trigger words to get started without overwhelming yourself.

During activation you will find answers and perhaps create other questions and that's the purpose of activating in layers. You progressively build conscious comprehension in layers and build your mind map in layers.

Make a 20 to 25 trigger word list your limit. You won't miss anything; they are your starting point. Sometimes less is more.
