One point I would like to clarify... activation is not a particular feeling that you're going to 'know' like a slap across the face. It doesn't have to be a feeling at all.
You know you have activated the book fully once you have the same or better level of understanding/comprehension as you get from regular reading. How do you know you got everything you wanted from a book that you regular read? It's basically the same.
After the 12 hours and if (and that is a big if) you actually worked along with the tapes and photoread and activated those 3 books. You will know if you have fully activated the book.
If you finish a book and say 'man that book sucked' (pardon the language but it is a common expression afterall
) and can tell someone why you thought the book was bad, then the book has gelled.
If you finish a book and say, 'that was a great book', and again can tell someone what you learned to make you think that, Then the book has gelled.
If you say, 'I don't get it, I have no idea what the book is about, what s/he said about..., made no sense.' That only means you need to do more activation passes till you can get to the point where you can explain to someone why you like/didn't like or even just what you learned about... from the book. So activation takes in total between 30 minutes to 3,4 or 6 hours (depending on the book, depending on your experience, depending on what you want from the book.)
