I am involved in some heavy-duty self-exploration work that has me much more aware of my inner-dialogue than in the past. In case you are familiar, I am a graduate of the Landmark Forum and many seminars in the year since. What I am saying is that I have a decent chance of seeing where I stop myself when I am completely honest with myself and others. But even so, some decision making processes are so strong that they remain hidden. TO whit: it doesn't make any sense that I am still smoking. Not only do I logically know why not to smoke, I also take prescription medicine to alleviate withdrawls and enjoy going through the Paraliminal Tape "New Behavior Generator to address that behavior. But still I go smoke. I am not asking this forum how to fix that, but to set a context for my actual question.
But more background...
I have been reading the heck out of posts here on the PR Forum looking for the answer that fits me. Alex and other accomplished PR'ers get close and people with questions get close, but I am not quite satisfied. That could be my 'hidden agendas' stopping me.
The subject, "will saturation make a difference?" is not "will it do any good?" because I get that saturation may actually hinder the learning process.
I am going through boxes of books to gather a certain batch of role-playing books to sell on e-bay. What happens is that I come across a lot of 'good idea' books and have set them into another pile. I have a lot of books but I can never have enough. I am eager to capture the info within these books and as some people know, your purpose for a book can change over time, even to the point of disinterest.
So here's my plan: Let go of the neceessity to actually become an expert on each book. Just preview, establish a GENERAL purpose, and then PhotoRead and set it aside. At some point I will revisit the book and re-photoread it, adding to the 'saturation'. Due to the general nature of my purpose, I am not counting on activiation to make me 'suddenly smart'. But being a person that is committed to 'instant gratification' (a trait which I am working on) I desire to magically discover stuff from my sub-concious. In fact, having blasted myself with a few philosophy books, I think I have shaped my own philosophies wihtout knowing the origins of the thoughts, but I can't claiim that as a result.
What I am looking to do is to PR so much that eventually I bypass the thing that stops me from getting results and find a specific, measurable result. That, I feel, would be the pebble that starts the snowball downhill. It would take a while to happen, but the sudden insight would give me that AHA! that would reinforce my efforts and cause positive results. See the philosopher at work here?
I have noticed in the PR book(don't have the course...yet) that there are a number of instances/examples where somebody casually PRed a book and suddenly found they had unexpected answers when they had no purpose or just general interest. Like PRing 6 books on a subject and a situation activates. I know from the book not to count on this for results, but I am looking to have it happen such that the light goes on and I KNOW what caused it.
So back to this pile of books. If I just go throught the pile with 'whistling while I work' attitude, is it feasible, or even expected that something could occur which would begin the impetus?
I feel a bit ashamed to phrase my query like this after having some great conversation with Pete about 'just do it' because I know he's right. But I have built up so many stories about my reading that I am looking to set-aside my logical self and just cause something through feelings and numbers.
Gimme a clue?

I think I need to state that it is my intention to keep working according to the methods described in the book. i.e. use super-reading, dipping, etc. to activate. But I've got this concept of doing the full exercise on a few books and hold a box full of books in reserve as my PR drowning pool These books are dictionaries, thesauri, writing books/style guides, etc. I am already verbose, so I know the subjects, but can always use improvement.
I added this reply to save those in the know from having to lecture me about 'follow the book'. I am actually describing what I want to do to supplement the PR learning process.
Thanks and I hope my posts aren't too laborious to read.

Well Pete himself has surely told you that he also photoread every book he got his hands on. A type of saturation experiment. I have also done the same thing.

I chanced to find myself in a book store US and everytime I went in there I photoread at least 20 books (and more). Here in Australia the closest I can come to doing that is in the local library. The few bookstores around here barely have elbow room to browse the book and yet I still photoread as many books as I can (mostly only 10 it's just plain uncomfortable.) Many of these books get a very short activation if at all in the form of a postview rather than preview.

Does it make a difference. Well I find myself buying books that are worth something to me. The others I find I put back on the shelves with the feeling... I know it and I don't need anything more from it.

Thats why it's often been suggested to photoread 5 to 10 books per day for at least a month, can be the same books or different. Depends on what you have access to.

Does it make a difference. Well when I consider that I photoread 12 marketing books in 25 minutes with the aim of finding 'ways' of promoting a business and then have ideas forming in my head and mind mapping them to wind up with 15 (more actually but I culled it down to 15) ideas that could be implemented immediately. Without postviewing or activating any of the books.

The difference comes in doing it.

Alex

Well until you posted the list of books you intend to start with I thought you had a deeper goal than getting very good with PR.

Some thoughts that occured to me while I was reading your post. The first is the difference between Saturation and Overwhelming and Scattered everywhere. At first it sounded like you were going to read everything about everything. Which it you are trying to acquire everything is being scattered everywhere. If you has a single or a small tightly associated group of purposes, then it's not scattered. It a single desire searching for an answer. If you have many dissociated desire, then you are scattered. Being scattered is great for being in the moment, the problem is that your progress towards any given goal is very slow. This is disheartening.

Saturation versus overwhelm, saturation means you have all you can hold, while overwhelm means you have more than you can handle. Overhelming is one good way of ensuring you are reaching your saturation point.

The idea of Bypassing a belief system... no you can't do that. You actions a determined by a constant balancing act of many beliefs. The importance, or weight, of a belief is not a constant with time. By exposing yourself to many new beliefs you can change the balance. However, if you what you want the outcome to be then you can undergo processes to examine the value of beliefs and go about changing the importance attributed to the values. It comes down to choosing what you want, really want, and making it happen.

The sticky bit is what you really want.

If you didn't listen to Pete saying, "Just do it" well then you're not going to listen to me.

If your goal is to PR mastery, then all it takes is true commitment to making it happen. You've got enough information and support to find your way. You just have to be committed to finding that path.

Will your plan work.... well, it won't hurt.

You are perfection,
Iam2

BTW, if there is an ultimate purpose in my quest....lets' say it is the unified theory of everything. Big ambition, but I figure the goals along the way are achievable.
