I toook a course in Applied Probability last semester and was unable to write the final. The course is really tough. I havent been going to lectures this semester as I dont need to. How should I use the PhotoReading Whole Mind System to study for that course.

Pete mentioned in his earlier post to PhotoRead six books on the topic and not to worrying about activation. He said further that we would notice the result in the classes. But how would that apply to my situation as I dont goto class!

Should I just Preview and PhotoRead the books and then start studying from my actual notes?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Raheem

I guess I'll be the first to say the obvious -- go to class!!

It's perfect for review - you'll constantly have the feeling that you really know all this - your notes will make even more sense than they did before (hint: now map them) - and after reading groups of 5 or 6 books in between times, shoot - you'll be able to write the final in your sleep!

If you're going to write your paper based on those books activate them. Use syntopic reading for your paper. Use additional books that you don't need to activate to help you write the paper let them influence your writing from a non conscious level.

In your situation I would have 10 books on the subject. 5 of which I would be using for my research paper and all of which I would be photoreading on a rotational basis (5 per day) till I'm ready to start writing the paper. after about a week of photoreading these 10 books I would select the most helpful 5 to activate for the paper. If the topic of the paper has been provided I would do a syntopic mind map. If I have to find a topic I would do an exporitory mind map first, then do the syntopic mind map.

Its not a paper. Just a final exam that I have to write.

Well if you know the subject just photoread the books and see how much easier it is to write the exam. Otherwise you might still want to activate some of the books.

Any textbooks that are required reading would be activated by me and the other books would just be photoread.

The thing is, I dont really know the subject. I am still in the learning part of it. Can I just PhotoRead a couple of books on the topic and a couple of books on problem solving? I will resume to normal studying after photoreading those books hoping that the books that I photoread earlier would be activated by itself.

So how should I do it? Say Photoread the books in the morning everyday and study in the evening or photoread all the books for a week and then study? Or any other strategy that you would recommend

Thanks

First of all what is your purpose? What's your goal?

How much time can you devote to that goal.
How many books do you think you can photoread in that time you have set?

How much time can you devote to actually studying and mind mapping the subject? How many books can you find on the subject?
Which books are required reading and what do you want to know from them?

If you want someone to help you set a study schedule you will have to explain your purpose.

Once I've decided my purpose. I'd establish my study time table when I can best study. Photoreading books... well It only takes about 5 minutes per book I can do 2 books in a sitting and can do them anytime of the day. I could do all 5 books just prior to activating the others for whatever else I'm studying.

It's your purpose and your goal you must consider. If nothing else get active with your reading. That where the mind understands that the imformation is important to you and needs to be demonstrated at the conscious level.

Well, my purpose is to learn applied probability and my goal is to get an A in the final. There is only one book that is required for this course and I can photoread that. But I am looking for a couple of more books on that topic in the library. This course is basically a general introduction to advanced probability. So each topic in that course is basically a sub-field of probability.

I have 6 weeks till the final exam but I also have my other normal academic obligations. Surely enough, I can put aside 10-12 hours a week for that course with no problems.
