If you can find an article as to why reading works (not photoreading but reading) you might understand why there is little research into photoreading.
They are only now uncovering how the mind reads with the use of fMRIs,
Other test like reading comprehension before and after are basicly redundant because you cannot adquately control the subject. Comparing 2 people on the same reading material is also redundant because how individual reading to the subject matter, prior knowledge about the and even testing for prior knowledge builds knowledge within individuals at different rates. Therefore any questions asked about the subject make the subject reduntant.
Right now the cost of doing fMRIs still makes research into what is happening when someone photoreads is a problem.
If you're looking for information that the mind processes information non consciously. There is plenty of research on that.
