slightly confused and i wonder if you guys can help me, when you pr a book then activate it, do you activate it in a 30 min pass (does this mean you activate the whole book by superreading/dipping in 30 mins then do multiple passes till it gels), or do you cover as much as you can in thirty mins and then so on?

Zak; you superread & dip the whole book in 30 to 45 min to an hour. Zak understand that some people will be able to superread & dip the book in 20 min some in 30 min, some in 45 min or more but the more you superread & dip you will get better & faster at it.Yes you do come back after having gone through the whole back once and then you do multiple passes. But very important you have to have a purpose you have to have trigger words and questions for those trigger words. How else is your mind going to know what to look for if you don't tell your mind what you're looking for and what you want to accomplish. No purpose no trigger words no questions = no results. photoread4me.

Begging your pardon zak, but it doesn't seem like that was what photoread4me was saying.

The process you seem to be referring to is laid out on page 77 of the PhotoReading book.

On this page they give a process for photoreading and activating a book that takes a little over two hours total over five days.

Day 1 - Prepare and photoread the book.

Day 2 - prepare, preview for no more than 2 minutes and photoread the book, postview for 15-20 minutes, including gathering trigger words and questions.

Day 3 - prepare and photoread the book. Superread and dip so that you finish the book within 30 minutes. Don't worry at all about comprehension if possible.

Day 4 - prepare and photoread. Spend thirty minutes superreading, dipping and skittering the entire book. Continue to find trigger words and formulate additional questions using the mindprobing technique.

Day 5 - prepare and photoread. Go to the table of contents and find any sections where you feel that you need more information. Superread and dip or skitter to answer specific questions. Rapid read if you just want more information but don't have specific questions. Save ten minutes at the end of your session to mind map the book.

Hey, zak. I've been told many suggestions on how to do and organize activation, all which were useful. And I noticed that different styles helped different people. Take the main ideas for the steps into account, yet be creative with it! The bottom line is, though, that you have to be flexible. Perhaps there's no REAL way to schedule the system, but merely a base that everyone can work with. Also, something like NOPS is there to work with, so you get to particpate in molding the steps to be your own. I hope you find this useful.

Where's Alexk?

Zak, in Alexk's absence here is some point form guidelines.

Work in 20 to 30 minute blocks of time.

Try and cover the entire book in that time block. If it's a 2000 page text book, you're not likely to make it, and there are alternate strategies for material like that.
You only have to PR the book once. You can do it more if you want, but you don't have to.

Giving yourself some incubation time before trying to activate is best. One night sleep before the first activation is Strongly recommended.

Having a purpose is very important. Trigger words are less important, they can help you develop a purpose. You should search the forum on developing a purpose. I personally believe that a good purpose is very helpful.

End of idea bullets. You should consider checking the forum for the 5 day test. There are lots of threads and some very detailed.

You are perfection.

One piece of advice 20 minutes is an excellent lenght for an activation pass.

First activation pass 30 minutes for the whole book this means regardless of lenght "the whole book". For a textbook this means you only have time to become familiar with the structure some of the sections you will identify what they are about others you won't. For regular books you may have time to discover everything you need to know. Your 10 to 15 minute postview will have triggered areas of interest and you will have dipped a little more into them.

Next activation passes you go directly to areas of interest. Remember to dip when you get the urge to do so however superread and skitter. You're looking for answers for the mind probing question you formed.

Do you expect to be finished with a book after 30 minutes? You expect to be finished when you're finished and met your purpose, If your purpose is only to spend 30 minutes with the book to see what you can know about the book in that time then thats means you're done in 30 minutes. You going to know everything about the book? Not consciously. You decide what you need to know and how much more you want to know. Keep going with additional 20 to 30 minute activation passes.

Reason I personally recommend 20 minute; so that you stay with superreading and dipping. If you allow yourself to spend more than 30 minutes with the book without reconsidering what you want out of it you falling into the PASSIVE reading trap.

I am afraid if you follow Photoread4me's advise you are actually just 'regular reading' with perhaps a bit of a sense of purpose thrown in. However it becomes passive as soon as you give it too much time.

Alex
