I have been reading Paul Scheele's book and been researching on this website as i have been struggling to find the blip page. Alas, i have found the blip and have been photoreading the dictionary.
However, the problem is that i don't seem to be able to recall words. For instance, a peer selects a random word in the dictionary. He tells me its page number and the location on the page. I close my eyes and pretend as though i am seeing this page and based on hunches i guess what the word is. Every time i am wrong.
Obviously i am missing something. Or perhaps my photofocus is wrong. Could any Users clarify what i am doing wrong.

Lets focus on what you are doing right.

The dictinary game is just that ... a game, with practice and faith, you'll get it.

Let me reiterate that, PRACTICE and FAITH.

Focus on imagining yourself PR'ing the dictionary and correctly pointing out the location of the word. Notice the smile on your face, the jubilation in your body and mind as you 'hit it on the nail!' ...

Life rewards that which you focus on the most ... so imagine a successful outcome and it will happen.

Is that the game as indicated in the course or a variation?

It sounds terrifyingly difficult! I have sometimes attempted the dictionary game, but (perhaps misunderstanding how the game was supposed to work) I have started with the word and then imagined the location - completely ignoring page number - then I look the word up and see whether the location more or less matches the word.

Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't, but what seems to be more important to me when I play the game is what the kinesthetic impressions were as I was guessing, i.e. what did I feel like as I was guessing, and how does that compare to the outcome, and can I use that (feeling/sensation/whatever) as an indicator in the future.

It is all just an experiment, really, a game. Starting with page number and location to land on a word - I wouldn't dare set myself up for something that difficult this early in the game!

I mean - I know that they say that "Failure leads to maturity and maturity leads to success", but I always seem to need small signs of success, so while I have great big goals I try to set myself up for intermediate successes along the way... Hmmm... I guess that must mean that I'm never going to grow up

You're working from the book and the forum, not the course.

I would most certainly suggest simplifying your game, maybe even do a search on "dictionary game" to see whether others around here have come up with variations or tips or tricks that you might find useful. Come to think of it, I am going to do that myself in a second

I suggest you relax yourself and don't try to give yourself any pressure of having to score every single hit.

The dictionary game is just a GAME. No need to get too serious about it and you may surprise yourself with the results.

Given that the average English dictionary has 80,000 words and there are in excess of 150,000 words in the English language. Your version of the game is set for difficulty if not downright failure. Even zener card number only 25 and there you're only trying to guess a symbol.

Reverse the game. Get the person to say the word you try and guess its position in the book. Left or right page, left or right column, top bottom, how many words from the top or bottom for example. Correctly guessing that the word is on the right page in the right column near the top is a feat in itself. So don't worry about guessing page numbers just the position of the word on the page.
