I just finished activating my fourth book, and like the other three, it seems as if nothing has come from my subconscious. Anything i write down (on my mind map) has been a direct result of previewing. This last book i didnt even have that much, just a single fact not related to anything i asked.. just something i randomly, consciously read over and happened to remember when i was done. This captures my feelings best: If i get a completely new book that i have never photoread or looked at, i can try to activate it and i come up with the exact same hunches and feelings that i would when activating a book i HAVE photoread. Have i truly experienced a "cue" from my subconscious, then?

What activation technique do you use, Superreading and dipping or skittering and how long are your activation passes? How many have you made per book? How long have you spent at it perbook. Alex

You know as usual Alexk is right. There is a pattern that i keep seeing on the posts when people say they are having problems with activating material. You can see them when you read the post but i will repeat them again. 1. Not establishing a purpose. If you do not know what you want from a book you are not going to know when you try to activate. 2. Not doing a mind probe & looking for trigger words that you are attracted to. The trigger words are the crucial elements that a author will use to communicate core concepts. If you do not search for these you will not recognize them when you active. 3. Not formulating questions from the trigger words. If you have not formulated questions from the trigger words your conscious mind is not going to know what you are looking for when you superread & dip. Once again Photoreading is not magic. I have heard Pete Bissonette say that more than once. You can get tremendous results with photoreading but there is work to be done with the activation process & that work entails purposeful, probing, questioning active processes. photoread4me

Alex, I’ve ‘tried’ all the techniques, but not that much- 10 minutes this last time, I was following scheele’s tape. The question is, “did I do them right?”, which I should probably start another thread on. I only tried one activation pass (if by pass you mean session). Honestly, if I got anything out of any of the books outside of what I took in consciously, I probably wouldn’t be asking yall if im doing it right. Im just a little upset that I haven’t even got a “feel” for the book outside of my conscious effort. I figured if it was only a matter of "doing it enough" I would have at least got SOMETHING small in the first activation which would then cue me to do it again for more. However, again, i get nothing. Note: due to this, I’ve only attempted one activation per book so far. Photoread4me, 1. im pretty sure I got this part down, people talk about it enough and I tried to experiment with general purposes to specific. (general – what do I need to know to get the jist of the book, and basically be able explain what its about (granted, I would already have a lot through previewing but this refers to REALLY understanding it) to asking for specific things that I happen to know are somewhere in the book. In both situations, I wait for some kind of leading and I come out dry… this is when I start making them up which of course doesn’t get me anywhere either. 2. Actually, I haven’t don’t much with trigger words other than write them down before photoreading (or after) and look over them and my goal before activating. (I just grab a few that seem to be related to the books message and then im done with them – I guess I should be doing more?). 3. Again, I haven’t formed questions FROM the trigger words, just general questions I came up with through previewing the book… so I guess I SHOULD based them off my trigger words? Hey guys, thanks again.. I look forward to the responses

No one activation pass / session is not enough you're quitting too early. Photoread 1 book as instructed in the 5 day test Page 76 of the book. I've said it before and I'll say it again... A beginner needs to do a minimum of 4 to 6 30 minute activation passes on a book... this will total 1/3 the time it takes you to regular read a book. If you're not doing that the the reason that activation is not working is staring you in the face... you're looking far lazy fix... you want to succeed with photoreading you need to put in the effort. I've noted in an earlier post (Dec 2003) that you said you were already puting photoreading into practice daily... now you're telling us you've only attempted to activate your forth book and you've given up after 10 minutes... something I told you not to do. No one can help you if you choose not to follow the steps. If you listen to paul on the tape he sasy to activate for 25 to 45 minutes and then decide if you want more. Now I suggest you open the photoreading book to page 67 and follow those instructions on one of those four books that you have photoread. You can do it in one day but I suggest you take a break between each step of 20 minutes. Alex

Hi! I am a fluent speed reader. Does that mean that my activation should be shorter than that for "ordinary" readers? I mean, if I spend 4 to 6 30 minute sessions with a book, I will usually have read it from cover to cover (unless it's very thick or hard read). Best regards, Niklas Johansson

You would probably find that you get the information from a book even faster than that. Alex

Oh, excellent - That actually makes me feel a lot better… that there’s still hope. I kept moving on to new books before because I thought that it was evident I was doing the previous wrong (and if I was doing it wrong..why KEEP doing it wrong) “hmm. Maybe I’ll get it on this next book”. But again, that’s great news to me that I was doing it wrong before because that means that I can now do it right – im going to take up the 5-day challenge exactly. I’ve read it before but didn’t follow through with it exactly. Alex, I don’t want you to think I lied to you when I said that I was practicing daily. I said four books off the top of my head, but I now that i think about it, i can remember seven separate books that I have actually photoread and done this single activation pass process. I photoread four of them three times (that’s three days – activating on the third 20 minutes after) because I read that that generally makes activation smoother… so, that’s what I meant when I said I was practicing daily. Also, I got Memory Optimizer for Christmas (after I told you I was practicing daily) and I know I dropped Photoreading completely and just went with that.. (not that one should have hindered the other.. but I just decided to let it go for a while focus on MO). Anyways. I just started practicing Photoreading again… same-o same-o on the no information from the first pass.. so I posted a thread on it asking what was up. I just learned now that its normal to not get anything (even a feel) the first time so I’m definitely going to do more passes – I am going to do it like you described – 4 to 6, 30 minute activation passes.
