Psydonym,
I have pring for a while now and I still subvocalize sometimes. I do it less when, during rapid reading, when I'm already familiar with the material and more so when I'm not. Personally I wouldn't worry about it. Just follow the steps and it will come. By the way my rapid reading speed varies from 3000-550. But it tend to mix in super reading and dipping with rapid reading. More of a postview like thing I suppose.

Check this out... If subvoalization keeps bothering you, here is what I have found very helpful. Put your headphones on with quiet, melodical music like soft classical music. I personally use the Spring Forest Qigong meditation CD a little louder than usual when I rapidread, and doing this you will stop hearing your inner voice.
I don't know if this works for everyone but it works great for me and my rapid reading has become 5 times faster than before. Remember NOPS?
By the way, like fritz said, the speed of your rapid reading should vary because rapid reading usually takes after SR&D. So your subvocalization should not interfere your rapid reading especially on the passage you have already dipped.
