Mind probing is getting curious about the book. Asking yourself questions from your trigger words E.g. for the Natural Brilliance book you might have written down Procastination. Your purpose might be to find ideas from the Natural Brilliance book ways to motivate yourself to do your studies.
You mind probe asking questions like what might the book advise, how can I motivate myself what ideas does the book offer, How does procastionation affect motivation, What techniques are there for overcomeing procastination. Is procationation a factor why I'm not doing my studies how will I know.
When it comes to activation you pick one or two questions and zoom in to find the answers. If the book doesn't seem to answer rephrase the question. If you still don't find the answer then you might need to look for a boarder picture of what the book is about. You might just urn around and ask what useful information is in this book that will help me with my studies.
Mind mapping. Start in the centre of the page and write the title of the book author and copyright date. Draw the first branch and write the name of the chapter that to you is most important (sometimes it will be in order of the chapters in the book sometimes not).
Recall. You cannot recall something that you have not yet called upon. If you have spontaneous activation you are 're-cognizing' the information for the first time.
When you ask yourself mind probing questions don't be surprised if answers come to you and activation becoms irrelevant, you've re-cognized the information already. Once you've activated you can then 'recall' information because you have called upon it before.

There is no percentage. Upper limit is 8 minutes in fact we are trying to encourage people to a maximum of 90 seconds preview on all books.
If you didn't get anything out of the book in 5 minutes you short changed yourself by stopping. Naturally it's also a strong indicator you didn't have a reason for activation the book what was your mind probing question? It sure wasn't what is the first thing I have to do to gain entry into England.
If you want to learn another language, PhotoRead the translation dictionary daily for a week or two. Activation comes in applying the language by writing or talking with others you don't have to activate the dictionary itself. Remember there are many forms of activation. Just because for most books we use the book itself as a trigger does not mean that it has to be 'that' book that helps us to activate.
I not from your scores in the manual that your English comprehension skills are not above average there for any book that you would traditionally read would take considerably longer in the first place so you will need to expect to spend more than an hour on a book before you can say you've tried activating it.
quote:
No I didn’t get what I had wanted in those 5 minutes. The problem is I am not able to remember facts and places even if dip. It’s mostly like: “in one ear comes in another goes” . I started with 27m due to not being aware of the structure of the book, now I know the structure and it takes me less time.
You have any idea how silly this sounds?
"No I didn’t get what I had wanted in those 5 minutes...
now I know the structure and it takes me less time."
Less time to achieve nothing! You got nothing out of it why even bother to open the book?
Watch your self talk too. If you really have trouble with remembering facts you need to get proactive with activation, it's the only way that you can start remembering facts. If you really have problems with facts then you're telling me you fail at gaining solid comprehension with regular reading.
Actually your scores on the pretest and compared to your PhotoReading scores have indicated you already have gained considerable leverage using PhotoReading.
PhotoReading is taught over a weekend which is about 18 hours (with breaks). The tape course itself if you follow along and do the exercises is 12 to 14 hours, 3 to 5 hours isn't really an effort especially if you've spent more time passively reading rathter than doing as you indicate.
After PhotoReading the book you do a postview, If your preview was 8 minutes then 10 minutes postview is enough. If your preview was 90 seconds then post view 12 to a maximum of 20 minutes. This helps with developing mind probing questions.
1) Prepare 5 minutes okay as a starting point but you need to keep in mind that this gets shorter with experience.
What you list as purpose is not a solid purpose. Why do you want to read that book ( consider answering the WHY)
The questions are great for mind probing if you can connect them to your purpose.
Get away from using the tape sooner rather than later,
Enter ALS,
Affirm
Tangerine,
Smile,
Photofocus
Flip
Close
I am going to give a bit of advise that sounds conflicting.
For the PhotoReading steps condense them more and more as you use them. Yes take 2-3 minutes to enter ALS I do that for a couple of weeks and you'll know you're there just because you intend to be there. So in some ways speed up the process over the tape.
Now for other advise, Don't rush it. Be patient especially with the activation. I notice that beginners give up after 5 minutes of not getting anything. It doesn't mean activation isn't working it means you're not working, rephase the question, go to the logical place in the book or allow your intuition to guide you. Just because a book has a certain sequence doesn't mean it has to be read that way. If you don't know what to ask look at the table of content and turn the header into a question.
Now for the ultimate secret. If you turned a chapter heading into a question guess where you're going to find the core of the answer?
That's right... in that chapter. Subheads are even more fun because the answer is usually in the paragraphs that follow.
So if you're stuck on activation all you need to do is turn headings into questions and some authors even do that for you.
