This is the 5th time I'm starting prwms again. Why because I know it works but, i just can't make it work for me at least in the past. This time I will follow the steps(yet again)the only difference is attitude and motivation. I'm studying for MCP.net the first test for mcsd.net and I know the gurus say read something easy not technical at first. The problem with that is to me there is no purpose when I have 20 books on programming and database info that I need to read to change my career. Again if I NEED prwms its' because I have a lot of reading and want changes in my life. What do you guys recommend so that this time I not only start but succeed at pr. I really want it to work this time. Help me get beyond the lack of feeling that I have wasted my time because I can't remember a darn thing and as a result I feel stupid and incompentent. PLEASE ADVICE. Thank you in advance Brian

"The problem with that is to me there is no purpose when I have 20 books on programming and database info that I need to read to change my career."

If that isn't a purpose enough to make you want to at least get to know the system on some books that have no emotional cost to you then I doubt anyone can offer you anything that will be.

The reason you need to learn on books away from your study is simply so that you know where the problem lies when you are learning. If you are having difficulty with the subject or PhotoReading itself... how will you know if you have combined them.

In terms of PhotoReading you haven't even learned to walk yet and you want to perform the triple jump.

Best advise is, learn the system on 2 or three books that don't have the emotional investment of "I need this or else I am doomed" textbooks. Once you are comfortably familar with the steps and know what it takes to mind map and activate two or three books fully using the PhotoReading System it will be far easier to apply to Textbook that need to have each chapter treated as a book in itself.

A simple purpose for a book is "I want to learn something new from this book on... so that I can apply it to my studies and learning for greater ease and success.

Select a book that will teach you something about study techniques, mind mapping, visualisation, time management or even positive thinking. They all have a relevance to your career if you think about it. Then when you activate these books you will have a way of seeing PhotoReading at work for you and learn something useful from the books that will help you in your studying career. Discovering just one useful idea from a 20 minute activation of a book is a strong indicator of the PhotoReading system at work for you.
