After PR and doing multiple passes through the material, what is the best way to burn all this material/information in to the mind? I guess what I'm after is I want to learn how to learn/understand/comprehend faster.

For instance, I just read Stephen Hawking's book Universe In A Nutshell. Even though I do have some science background, and I am highly interested in the material, and I went through it in multiple passes...it seems like 98% still does not make sense (despite it being a rather easy-to-read format - ie. the complex nature is "dumbed down" for us "regular people").

Does anyone know of any techniques for really "getting" the material? To really learn and comprehend at a much faster rate so it all sinks in?

lol, dude, rapid reading...but not too much, only rapid read for your purpose. i have the problem of if my purpose is to just read and absorb as much of the information as possible, id say just super read and dip every page..whatever catches your eye read it..i usually read 2-4 sentences on each page, of the text that grabes me after PR, during activating. if still this is not work for you then i suggest PR a dictionary or science dictionary, that will you help understand material harder for the photoreader. good luck

Try mind mapping it creates a brain dump that allows you to see what you know ans ask questions that help you build knowledge with the next activation pass.

Alex, yeah I am mind mapping.....hard to figure out how to do when you're reading books on physics and such...I mean, you have concepts and ideas and equations and definitions of words all over the place....for instance, the word "muon". I didn't know what that meant until I looked it up...now how would I mind map that in the larger picture of the main mind map?

PR Retard, I have been entertaining the idea of PR a dictionary and thesaurus. I already write down words I don't know in a notebook and then look them up and write down the definitions.

You hit the nail on the head...when I open up a book on science, let's say, my goal is, as you say, to just fully absorb as much as I can......then I go to rapid reading. Maybe I need to SR&D as you suggest. My thing is that I may miss something that I should know for later chapters...so I tend to go slower for fear of this.

If you've PhotoRead it how can you miss anything that might be in a later chapter? You're also missing the point of layering to build knowledge. You are still trying to get it all in the first go.

Anthony; Alex is right on. You are trying to get all the information on the first pass and you want it all right now! It doesn't work that way. You get it on multiple passes and you keep superreading and dipping until the book comes together or gels.

One more note; you are dealing with complex subject matter here so this is going to take more time but you will still save time than if you had read every single word for word. You would understand less of the material if you read it word for word and you would be spending much,much more time on the material. You will need to do multiple superreading and dipping passes and your purpose needs work. Your purpose is not clearly defined. You need to be very clear about what your purpose is and want you want to get from these books.

Ok I get the point...multiple passes is key. I ned to work on this...I mean, after all, I have spent most of my life reading things thoroughly to understand it as I read it. Now I have to learn a whole new way of doing it. Just takes time and practice I guess.
